Registration opens at 8:00AM and the tour begins at 9:00AM.There are 3 stops of 30 to 45 minutes each. Continuous field drainage tile installation by up-to-date equipment is scheduled all day on Friday and until noon on Saturday. There will also be a limited number of demonstrations of water management techniques and practices during the field day.

New tours start about every 45 minutes and will be continuous from 9:00 to noon and after lunch until 5:00 PM as long as there are people who want to go. The tour stops are as follows:

Wetland Benefits, Wildlife Considerations and the Farm Bill presented by Dan McGuckin,US Fish & Wildlife Service and Amy Lybarger, Natural Resources Conservation Service. Learn how a wetland can be designed and constructed to enhance the environment and where to go for assistance in planning one for your property.

Woodland Management – How a Woodland Can Contribute to Your Farmpresented by Lenny Farley, Purdue Extension Forester.Find out how good woodland management can provide income potential, recreational opportunities, water quality protection and wildlife habitat with relatively little effort.

Site-Specific Goals for Drainage and Water Management at the Northeast-Purdue Agricultural Centerpresented by Phil Walker, Superintendent, NEPAC and Steve Hawkins, Assistant Director, Purdue Agricultural Centers.This will be a discussion of design considerations for improved field drainage and water management in a research-oriented farming operation.

Continuation of the tour will be at your own pace to see equipment demonstrations of drainage tile starts and installation by wheel and by plow, and drainage tile outlet and terrace construction. Tour wagons will make the circuit periodically to take you back to the main tents to see drainage products and talk to vendors.

The field day location is about 4.5 miles southeast of ColumbiaCity. From ColumbiaCity, take State Route 9 south 3.5 miles to County Road 400 South. Turn east and go 2 miles following the signs to the tents and parking just off of 400 S. If you come from the east or west on State Route 14 turn north at Raber Road and follow the signs north about 2 miles to County Road 400 South where you should turn left or west to the parking area.
