Administrative Instruction MA-No 14 / 2006
On fixing the Maximum Residue Limits
General Provisions
Objective
Article 1
The purpose of this Administrative Instruction is implementation of MaximumResidue Limits for substances which are use for production of Veterinary Medical Products and inteted to be administered to food producing animals.
The other purpose is to exclude the possibility of food with animal origin which contain residues of veterinary medicinal products in quantities that may cause harm to people
Article 2
Definitions
To understand this Administrative Instruction the following terms have the meaning
“Residue of Veterinary Medicinal Products” means all pharmacological active substances, whether active principles, excipients or degradation products and their metabolites which remain in foodstuffs obtains from animals to which the veterinary medicinal products in question has been administered.
“Maximum Residue Limit “means the maximum concentration of residue resulting from the use of VMP expressed in mg per kg or microgram per kg on a fresh weight basis that is accepted by Kosovo Veterinary and Food Agency as competent authority to be permitted or recognised as acceptable in or on a food. It is based on the type and amount of residue considered to be without any toxicological hazard for human health as expressed in the acceptable daily intake.
Article 3
A Veterinary Medicinal Product may not be the subject of a marketing authorisation for the purpose of administering it to one or more food-producing species unless the pharmacologically active substances which it contains appear in Annexes I, II or III of Regulation (EEC) No 2377/90.
Article 4
In order to protect public health, when granting a marketing authorisation for a veterinary medicinal product intended to be administered to food producing animals, KVFA is responsible for ensuring that all pharmacological active substances fulfil the requirements stated in article 2 and for defining the withdrawals periods applicable wherever applicable on the basis of scientific recommendations veterinary scientific committee
Article 5
KVFA is responsible for making publicly available the list of substances in annexes I, II, III and IV of the regulation(EEC) No 2377/90
Article 6
Annexes I, II, III and IV of the regulation (EEC) No 2377/90 are part of this Administraive Instruction
