MEXICO’S BMV

New Listing Highlights Strong Regional Investor Demand

for Gold Bullion

Boston, London and Mexico City, August 9, 2006 — State Street Global Advisors (State Street), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) and the largest institutional money manager in the world, today announced, together with the World Gold Council, that streetTRACKS® Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD), has commenced trading on the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, S.A. de C.V. (“BMV”) under the symbol GLD. Deutsche Securities, S.A. de C.V., Casa de Bolsa serves as sponsor and depository for the funds quoted on the exchange.

“streetTRACKS Gold Shares continue to gain worldwide momentum as an important investment option for investors seeking to diversify their portfolios with exposure to gold bullion,” said Jim Ross, senior managing director of State Street Global Advisors. “We are very pleased that investors in Mexico investors now have access this investment vehicle.”

Launched in November 2004, GLD was the first-ever U.S. commodity-based exchange-traded security, providing investors with streamlined, secure and cost-effective access to the gold bullion market. Designed to reduce the barriers to investing in gold, GLD holds physical allocated gold bullion, with the objective of reflecting the performance of the price of gold bullion less expenses.

“The continued demand for gold bullion in an uncertain investment environment and the widespread acceptance of GLD as its de facto proxy has prompted its further expansion into worldwide markets,” said Stuart Thomas, managing director of World Gold Trust Services LLC. “With gold experiencing solid performance, we see an increase in investor appetite in countries such as Mexico and throughout the world.”

GLD is the largest of four gold-backed securities launched under the global brand name Exchange Traded Gold. The other securities trade on the London, Johannesburg, and Sydney stock exchanges as well as on Euronext in Paris.

State Street Global Advisors partnered with World Gold Trust Services, a subsidiary of the World Gold Council, to bring GLD to market in November 2004. GLD completed its first day of trading on the New York Stock Exchange with almost six million shares traded, a record for any derivative, ETF or structured product. With more than $7.8 billion in assets and over 9 million shares of average daily trading volume, GLD is the largest and most liquid gold-backed equity in the world.

State Street Global Advisors manages almost $100 billion in 65 ETFs worldwide and is one of the largest providers in the U.S. and globally.*
