DRAFT Minutes of the L Street Running Club Board Meeting May 3, 2017

Attendance: Caitlin Doherty, Joe Perdicaro, Julianne O’Neill, Laureen Bina, Bernie Alcock, Thomas Eggers, Maureen Griffin, LuanaNascimento, Jen DeSimone, Stacie Cohane and Kathleen Casey

The meeting was led by President Caitlin Doherty

President (Caitlin Doherty):

  • Buses to Hopkinton on Marathon day 2017 - need to leave earlier next year (we were one of the last two going into the lot)
  • Marathon day bus expenses. Second bus - over $900. Next year - 1 vs. 2 buses? Was having second bus more convenient for people? Convenience vs. cost on second bus?
  • Two shuttle buses at Castle -Cost one vs. two? Possibly increase price of 3marathon/training buses next year
  • Sunday runs - Open LStreet at 7:45am /$20 fee to open. Board voted to yes (5/7 - 7/2)
  • Review draft Sunday 10 Milers | May-July
  • Fall Marathon training - any conflicts?
  • The 22 miler run falls over Labor Day weekend - feedback re if we should change due to holiday and possibly unable to fill water stations
  • Run to Remember | Reminder to sign-up for water station (#6 Arlington Street). Will email Tom and Julianne to post on Website
  • Contacted by Red Sox re Runners Nite Baseball - Sat/Sun? - Will create a FB survey poll.
  • Summer BBQ. Board OK with August 27. Caitlin to call and reserve.
  • Will call Stan's brother to get update on Stan
  • Promoting Jim Kane race - will provide fliers for Board and to take to any upcoming scheduled races
  • Billy McLeod Family to notify Caitlin when spreading ashes at L Street
  • 500 copies of Jim Kane race application will be included in Run to Remember packet

  • Also awaiting bus money from Evenbrite on those who purchased after March 31st when we last received payment.
  • Due to outstanding bill and payment, we do not have a final total cost for Spring season

Membership: 124 Females, 115 Males and 35 families (assuming 2 members per a family), Total 309

Media (Maureen Moroney absent - email read by Caitlin):

  • Request to get Board approval to contactMichelle LeBrunat NE Runner - they may want to put a piece in their magazine re the 30th running of the Jim Kane.
  • SeekingBoard approval to send article to South Boston Today re another successful training year, including the picture from Marathon morning.

Newsletter (Julianne O’Neill):

  • Newsletter sent before Marathon outlining Marathon/bus details, etc.
  • Tina Karasto sendcommunication to former Jim Kane runners and remind to sign-up

Sunshine (Laureen Bina):

  • Sent a sympathy card on behalf of Board to Caitlin on her stepmother's passing
  • Will send a thank you note to LStreet Diner and Java House
  • Unsuccessful in trying to contact Stan at rehab
  • Will call re ambulance and 2 EMT on bicycles for Jim Kane race

Apparel: (Bernie Alcock):

  • Has to collect money from 5 people for jackets
  • Sold 22 jackets
  • Distributed 11 hats - received checks for 5
  • Will post his address on line for payment with picture of hat

Events (Kathleen Casey): Nothing to report.

Alternate (Maureen Griffin): Nothing to report.
Alternate (LuanaNascimento):Voted to accept minutes from April 5 submitted by Luana.
Webmaster (Tom Eggers):Nothing to report.

Race Director (Jen DeSimone):

Jim Kane Road Race

  • Award for JK race - 10yr increments
  • Elma to sing national anthem
  • Looking for sponsors/vendors/donations - if anyone has any to email Bea or Jen
  • Suggested 30y anniversary pint glass w/LStreet logo - $1.78/glass
  • Looking into cheaper pint glass options from other vendors
  • Water donations: Belmont/Poland Springs/Dayton/Trader Joes
  • Potato Chips - Joe P. to forward contact name to Jen
  • Looking into Race Plaques prices - first place M & F
  • Towels given to winners in 10 division/ wheelchair - including additional order of 14 for Board members (who will personally pay) with LStreet logo. Looking into price.
  • Tribute to Billy McLeod at race - name on t-shirt and invite family. Tom to write a tribute.
  • Suggested leaving a bouquet before race outside LStreet and some of LStreet present by flowers wearing hat backwards
  • Cool face towels (if temps are high)–suggested put aside for team Soul Train and Back on my Feetrunners
