Schedule A Guidance for student applications to BU

1. BU welcomes applications from any appropriately qualified students for entry to its taught programmes of study. Its normal entry requirements are set out in its Prospectuses and its website (www.bournemouth.ac.uk).

2. For Bournemouth University’s Masters programmes, the normal entry requirement for students with Chinese qualifications is the completion (with good grades) of a four-year full-time Bachelors degree from a NARIC-recognised University.

3. All the BU Masters programmes covered by this Memorandum are located in the Media School. The programmes, together with any specific entry requirements, are listed in Schedule B. The minimum English language requirement for these programmes is IELTS 6.5 (Academic) with at least 6.0 in each of the four elements unless otherwise stated.

4. The Bournemouth University Preparatory English Programme (BUPEP) may be an available option for those students who have not otherwise met the English entry requirements for these programmes.

5. BU will take all reasonable measures to notify CUC of any major changes in entry requirements or programme availability.

6. Individual decisions will be made on each student’s application, taking into account the individual academic profile and demonstrated abilities in specific subjects, academic references, personal statement and English language qualifications.

7. BU will provide appropriate forms on which the students can make applications. CUC will forward the applications directly to the Media School at BU as early as possible, and normally no later than 1 April in any given year. BU will then consider each application and issue conditional offer letters to appropriately qualified CUC applicants. Unconditional offer letters will be issued by BU and sent to CUC once the students have met the admission criteria set out in the conditional offer letter.

8. BU will provide all reasonable support for the students’ visa applications.

9. BU will provide separate guidance on accommodation, pre-arrival preparation, and any other related matters.

10 Students accepted for entry to programmes at BU will pay to BU directly the current tuition fees charged to students from outside the EU (see Schedule D), at the rate applicable to the year of entry, as published on the BU website. BU’s rules and regulations regarding the payment of fees shall apply. The tuition fees for each programme at BU are reviewed and published annually. BU will use all reasonable endeavours to keep any changes in fees to a minimum and will notify CUC when any changes in fees have been confirmed by the University authorities.

11. BU will grant students who have successfully completed the relevant programmes of study at BU the relevant degree.
