Meeting called to order, 6:06 pm Sign in sheet.
Presentation from the 8th grade students on theirtutoring program. See Attached material.
Secretary’s Report for meeting minutes approved forDecember with the correction of date for fundraiser. Sue Rutter first, Jen Dyer 2nd it. All in favor. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report see attached report. Nicole motioned to approve Sue Rutter 1st and Jackie Gallishaw 2nd it. All in favor. Motion passed.
Teacher Requests- Mrs. St. Michael and Mrs. Dumas $ 50.00Karen Land a former Iditarod musher, is offering a skype visit to schools. Related to the book Jack London’s Call of the Wild that students read in Mrs. Dumas class. Sue Rutter and Jen Dyer 2nd it. All in favor. Approved. Make check payable to Karen Land Check# 1361
Penny Wars will be starting last week of January 26 runs thru Jan 29. Working on a reward, (Movie night? need a license)(Sue Rutter checking into Town of Seekonk Library’s license.)
The Rules are:
Teams place pennies in their own jar, and paper money and silver coin into the jars of the other grades.This fuels the competition; Pennies count positively towards a team’s total, silver coins and paper money count against a team.
Penny = 1 pts
Nickel = -5 pts
Dime = -10 pts
Quarter = -25 pts
Dollar = -100 pts
The team that has the highest points wins!Winning grade
Snowflake Ball March 20,2015 Jackie Rogers needs to set a date for the meeting. She is working on invitations. Invitations should be out by January 26, 2015. Need to ask Missy what teachers will help with the Father/Daughter dancing.

8th grade dance chairperson are Wendy Studley and Megan Horowitz. Wendy and Megan would like to ask the 8th graders what they would like for their dance. They will put a Suggestion box in the lunch room. Dr. Whalen suggested give a coupleof ideas and they can put a check mark in the appropriate box. Wendy will set a meeting date.
Red Sox Flyer Fundraiser will be April 28, 2015. The tickets will be sold thru the month of January.

Calendar fundraiser is beginning March1, 2015. Last week of January is the state union to the school. It will recognize some outstanding students. January 24, 2015 is the School Basketball Tournament to raise money for the athletics’ at Hurley. Basketball tournament has six surrounding teams. It should be a lot of fun!! (see attached info)
Next PTO Meeting will be held on February 11, at 6pm .2014-2015 PTO Meetings Dates:April8, May 13, and June10.Meeting Adjourned at: 7:08 pm.
Need a tutor? 8th grade students at Hurley Middle School want to help! Anyone who’s interested in being tutored in any of the four core subjects by 8th grade students, now’s the time. There are eight students who each are willing to assist you in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. For those who are open to being tutored, we will meet on Wednesdays in Mrs. Metcalf’s from 2:25 until 4:00. WINTER TOURNAMENT 2015 We are excited to announce that Hurley Middle School will be hosting the 1st annual HMS Winter tournament on Saturday and Sunday, January 24th and 25th. All proceeds go to the HMS hardship fund. Price of admission is $3.00 for adults and free for middle school age or younger children. We are looking for student or parent volunteers to work the admissions and concession table as well as the scorebook and clock. Please email Coach Botelho @ if you are interested.
