DPD mourns founding partner Horst Walter Schröter

Aschaffenburg / Berlin, 17April 2013 – International parcel and express service provider DPD is mourning the death of Horst Walter Schröter,one of its founding partnerswho died on 6 April at the age of 85. With his Zeitfracht group of companies he was one of the 18 German freight forwarders who founded the DPD parcel service in 1976. Zeitfracht is the only founding freight forwarder which still has a participation in DPD Dynamic Parcel Distribution GmbH & Co. KG.

"For more than thirty years Horst Walter Schröter was one of the personalities who shaped our company", states DPD CEO Arnold Schroven. "He was not only one of the founders of DPD, but to the very last he contributed a great deal to the company with his experience and ideas, both as a shareholding partner and member of the supervisory board. In Horst Walter Schröter DPD has lost a unique entrepreneur who will have a valued place in our grateful memories. Our deepest sympathy goes to his loved ones."

The establishment of the ZeitfrachtGroupwith its headquarters in Stendal, the town of his birth, was Horst Walter Schröter's life's work. DPD Zeitfracht GmbH & Co. KG operates two DPD depots in Berlin together with a DPD depot in Raunheim, Hessen, which serves the entire Frankfurt conurbation. The group has a workforce of around 1000 and includes both the Zeitfrachtfreight forwarding business and the bus company Altmark Bus GmbH.

The Zeitfracht Group continues to hold 6.21% of the shares in DPD. In June 2011 Horst Walter Schrötertransferred a large part of his shareholding to his niece JasminSchröter.
