<Dormitory Information>
On-Campus Housingis available. An exchange student who comes here alone will be assigned a room in one of the Student Dormitories. We have a limited number of on-campus accommodations for married students. If you will bring your spouse, please let us know as soon as possible. If you will bring more than two family members to IUJ, you may have to look for accommodation outside the IUJ campus. Usually, it is quite difficult to find an accommodation for a short period near the school and it is very costly.
On our campus, we have three student dormitories, calledStudent Dormitory 1, 2 and 3 (SD1, 2 and 3) . SD 1 is the oldest, and SD 3 is the newest. All exchangestudents are accommodated in SD1 in principle. However,we may be able togive you a room in SD2 or SD3 if we have vacant rooms in those buildings.
The following is a brief description of the dorm buildings.
SD1 is the oldest. It is a three-story building but the wallsare thick andsolidly built. The kitchen of SD1 has just been rebuilt and is now the newest of all dorm kitchens! SD1 is mainly used by summer program participants,and almost all regular students will reside in SD2 or SD3. So, SD1should be very quiet during the regular terms and you can use the publicspace, i.e. kitchen/lounge/laundry room more comfortably than SD2 or SD3. Air-conditioning is available only in SD1 because it is used for
summer programs. In September and the May/June period, we usually have some very hot days giving SDI an advantage over SD2 & SD3.
However, SD1 is often said to be cold in Winter and have a dark atmospherebecause of the colour of the walls and the building structure. SD2 andSD3 are white, six story buildings and are brighter than SD1. They arefull of students and have lively atmosphere and you can enjoy a fineview of the IUJ area.
The buildings aresituated closetogether. They are all within a 3 minute walk of each other. The dorm room fee is the same forall the buildings (32,000/month).
If you prefer SD2 or SD3 instead of SD1, please mention your preference in the 2nd page of the application form for the exchange program. We may not be able to arrange your room asyou wish but we will try our best to grant your request.
