10th Anniversary Celebration

What a truly amazing evening!! First of all a huge “THANK YOU” to Sue Vine for the transformation of the education room and the wonderful food. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the first thing they have said is how great the food was. People don’t realise just how much effort has to be put into organising these things so again brilliant Sue thank you. The evening ran smoothly because of members who helped out in the background. The folks who had been there earlier in the day to prepare the rooms, the gents on the door handing out the welcome glass, Sue’s helper in the kitchen, the rolling computer pictures and last but not least those who helped to clear up afterwards. These people show what a great club we have. A mention must be made of Jim’s ‘speech’ well done Jim, exactly the right amount of history, entertainment and most importantly the right length!!! It was interesting, amusing and informative. I think newer members were impressed. Jason the DJ was great and struck exactly the right ‘note’ for a club like ours with such a mixed age range!!! The majority made good use of the music!!! Finally appreciation to Gwyn, without his idea all those years ago we would not be here.

From Debra P:- ‘Thanks for a great night Saturday, myself and John thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we did comment to each other how good the DJ was, with a good mix of rock’n’roll and modern, did he leave you any cards or does he have a website as I don’t do facebook? It was great to catch up with everyone as I haven’t been to the club since breaking my toe in June, I hope to be back next Tuesday. Here’s to another 10 years or maybe we can do a 15 year party!!’

Welcome to new membersMarta Magazzini, Paula Nelligan, Kaleigh Lloyd, Claire Kay, Amina Begum and Ken Carey.

**Saturday 13th SeptemberChris Footer wrote:- On Saturday 13th September I was either brave or silly enough to complete a tandem skydive near

Cambridge. The jump was in aid of Parkinson's UK and so far I've raised just over £500. The jump was from 10000ft or 2 miles up and involved an approx 30 sec free fall and then approx 5mins on the parachute. Amazing feeling and certainly had the adrenaline running, but not sure I'd rush back to do it again myself though.

If anyone can spare a few pounds I'm still taking donations on my Virgin Money page -

Thank you to all who have donated already.' Amazing Chris, braver than me!!!

**Sunday 14th September Dan Carter took part in the ‘Old Deer’ half marathon Richmond, he writes, “a very nice route as well although with anastyhill near the finish!” Dan crossed the finish line in 1hr 20mins 52secs a new club record for that distance. Congratulations Dan!
