DODGEBALL RULES2013

Wild Card/Advisory Tournament-

Rock Gym (next to Jenks Post Office) Nov 18th

·  Parking: Due to construction, park ONLY in the Education Service Center’s lot (across from the football stadium)

·  Players need to arrive between 5:30-5:45pm

·  ALL players will need their school ID.

·  Check-in will be in the gym – find your team’s sign.

·  Players will be verified using their school ID and given a wristband to wear during the tournament

HS Tournament-
Frank Herald Gym, Nov 21st – Advisory

·  Players will be checked out of 1st hour at 8:30am and should immediately go to the Frank Herald Gym.

·  All players will need their school ID.

·  Check-in will be in the lobby – find your team’s sign.

·  Players will be verified using their school ID and given a wristband to wear during the tournament

After checked-in: Meet your team’s rep to:

- review the rules

- distribute mouth guards

- review the tournament bracket

DODGEBALL GAME RULES 2013

-  BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT:

o  ALL players must check-in with a DECA representative

o  Players must present their student ID and then receive a ‘player’ wristband

o  The wristband must be worn during the tournament.

-  MOUTHGUARDS must be worn at ALL times on the court

-  Take ALL jewelry OFF!

-  Beginning of game: referee will blow the whistle, after you pick up the ball at the center line, you must go back & touch the back ‘out of bounds’ line

-  No head shots (if referee decides not accidental, thrower is ejected from game)

-  Two females must begin each game

-  No more than 7 players on the court at one time

-  Two person swing rule is in effect
(caught ball= thrower out & catcher’s team adds a player)

-  Guys must throw two handed to get a girl out

-  If ball is deflected into the air then it is still live

Good sportsmanship at all times: No cursing or hand gestures

-  What the referees say goes, no arguing

-  Player cannot cross the center line at any time

-  If you step out-of-bounds you are out, unless retrieving a ball

-  Cannot hold the ball for longer than 5 seconds

-  If a player blocks a thrown ball with a ball they are holding and that ball drops =
player is OUT

No substitutions during game (exception- injury)

-  When your team is NOT playing à 1) do not block the view of the court, 2) please pay attention and keep facing the courts (so you won’t get hit)

WE WILL GO OVER THE RULES AND
ANSWER ANY ‘GREY AREA QUESTIONS’ BEFORE THE GAMES BEGIN.
