1.0 ABSTRACT:

1.1 This item requires the Contractor to provide and install Flowcrete Peran STB Marine decking in the Main Deck Passageways, Landings and Stairways, Trash Compactor Room and the bridge head using a Flowcrete approved contractor. The total estimate area is approximately 1442 sq. ft.

3.0 ITEM LOCATION/DESCRIPTION:

3.1  Locations:

3.1.1  Main deck Passageways Forward and AFT Sections 1-77-2 & 1-24-1, approximately 965 sq. ft.

3.1.2  Stairway landing (1-29-2), approximately 126 sq. ft.

3.1.3  Stairway landing (1-44-2), approximately 30 sq. ft.

3.1.4  Stairway landing (1-54-1), approximately 110 sq. ft.

3.1.5  Engine Room Stairway landing (1-82-2), approximately 30 sq. ft.

3.1.6  High Density Stairway landing (1-118-2), approximately 30 sq. ft.

3.1.7  Trash Compactor Room (01-54-1), approximately 115 sq. ft.

3.1.8  Aft Main Deck Head (1-117-2), approximately 20 sq. ft.

3.1.9  Bridge Head, approximately 16 sq. ft.

3.2  The product which is required to be provided and install is Flowcrete Peran STB Marine decking material and the color is to be Blue 502 Industrial. This product is approved under The Agreement between the United States of America and the EEA EFTA states under the USCG Approval number 164.117/EC0575/MEDB000008B. This is a decorative resin floor topping made up of color stable quartz granules encapsulated in a clear resin binder. Products included in this system are:

3.2.1  Primer 1: Peran Primer W @ 0.2 KG/m2

3.2.2  Primer 2: Peran STB Marine (A+B) @ 0.3 kg/m2

3.2.3  Scatter Color Quartz size 7/8 @ 0.5 kg/m2

3.2.4  Body coat Peran STB Marine (A+B) @ 0.75 kg/m2 mixed with Peran STB Marine Filler C @ .075 kg/m2

5.0  NOTES:

5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier must consult the General Technical

Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs including but not limited to GTRs 1 through 7, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 29. 5.2  The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.

6.0  QUALITY:

6.1  The workmanship, preparation of the decks, and installation of the product shall be in compliance

with the manufacturers’ guidance and procedures. The material specifications are to comply with the DNV-GL EC-Type Examination Certificate and the USCG 46 CFR 164.117 regulations.

6.2 All decking material shall be applied and installed to meet the minimum structural fire protection rating in accordance with NAVSEA DWG 7400481_C Safety and Fire Control Plan reference 2.3.

6.3 Upon completion of work, the worksite will be inspected by the Chief Mate, and the designated

On-site USMMI Representative (Port Engineer).

7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:

7.1 Mark, remove and properly store interferences. Upon completion of the work required by this item, reinstall interferences and prove operational. Prove both deck drains to be clear and free flowing. Plug the drains to preclude introduction of product and/or debris resulting from this work item. Upon completion of the decking renewal, remove the plug and again prove the drain to be clear and free flowing. The Chief Mate shall witness the testing of the drain. Install protective covering to protect the vessel's equipment and to contain the dust generated by this work item to the affected compartment. The Contractor is to take his own measurements to verify the exact quantities of product required. The installation is to be completed using the guidance in reference 2.1 and 2.2.

7.2 Chip up and remove the existing tile deck covering and underlayment in its entirety, including coving. Debris shall be removed from the vessel and properly disposed of on a daily basis. Scale the entire deck, the bulkheads up to a line 3" above the deck and retainer rings around deck drains, to bare metal in accordance with the Steel Structures Painting Council Surface Preparation Standard SSPC-SP-3, Power Tool Cleaning. Blow down and/or vacuum the compartment to remove all dirt and dust generated by the surface preparation activities.

7.2.1 The bridge head has a terrazzo deck covering which has some break down around the drain. The defected area will need to be removed and the area filled with Peran STB. Due to the difference of material it will require the complete deck to be replaced.

7.3 Inspect the surface preparation with the USMMI Port Engineer and the Chief Mate. The inspection shall include the condition of all permanently attached fixtures in way of the Peran STB Marine Decking installation including retainer rings around deck drains. Upon approval of the surface preparation by the USMMI Port Engineer, apply one (1) primer coat of USMMI furnished Amercoat 240 buff paint and one (1) barrier coat of Amercoat 240 red to all prepared surfaces at 4-6 mils DFT per coat.

7.4 Upon approval by the USMMI Port Engineer, wipe down the painted surfaces with solvent. When dry, install the Peran Primer 1 at 0.2 kg/m2 underlayment. The underlayment shall and shall fair-in irregularities in the deck including weld seams, depressions, etc. Total thickness of the underlayment shall be as necessary to achieve a smooth, even surface. Upon inspection and approval of the Primer 1, install the Primer 2 Peran STB Marine at 0.3 kg/m2 and then apply the scatter Color Quartz sized 7/8 at 0.5 kg/m2. Once the cure has been achieved, apply body coat Peran STB Marine (A+B) at 0.75 kg/m2 mixed with Peran STB Marine Filler C at .075 kg/m2. The body coat shall be sloped for positive drainage to the deck drains and shall be coved up the bulkheads 3". This is then to be covered with scatter Color Quartz size 7/8 at 3.0 kg/m2 at full blind. When cured, grind the surface to a smooth and fair surface. The final surface shall be nonporous, smooth and free of pits, spalls, and crevices. The color quartz chips shall be uniformly distributed, firmly embedded and exposed at the surface. Cracks or voids found in the finish are will be rejected defects. Such defects shall not be patched. Acceptable corrective action shall be removal and reinstallation of the Body coat and STB Marine filler mix. When grinding of the surface is completed, blow down and vacuum the entire compartment, including protective covering and fixtures in the compartment.

7.5 Upon the Chief Mate’s approval, apply the Peran STB Marine Sealer at 0.2 kg/m2. The finish shall be an even gloss and free of blotches.

7.6 Clean and paint disturbed surfaces to match the surrounding areas with USMMI furnished paint. Test the drainage in the compartment. Prove that the drainage is positive and without low spots which would tend to collect water. Remove all protective covering. Clean the vestibules and leave in a condition ready for use.

7.7 Manufacturer’s Representative:

7.7.1 The Contractor is to provide a vendor who is a Flowcrete approved contractor with a documented quality assurance scheme. The contractor can obtain details of Flowcrete’s approved contractors by contacting their customer service team or enquiring via their web site at www.flowcrete.co.uk.

7.8 Preparation of Drawings: None additional

8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

8.1 All materials shall be mixed, applied and cured in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for the specific material.

8.2 The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and tools required to accomplish this

specification, except as specified in Section 4.1.

8.3  The Contractor shall remove and reinstall interferences necessary to accomplish this specification.

8.4  Inspection and acceptance of all work shall be by the Chief Mate and the designated On-site USMMI Representative (Port Engineer).

8.5  No additional work is to be accomplished without prior written approval by the Contracting Officer, Purchasing Manager or USMMI Port Engineer. The USMMI Purchasing Manager or USMMI Port Engineer is the only persons authorized to give the Contractor authorization to proceed with growth or new work. The USMMI Port Engineer is the single point of contact authorized to address technical questions.

8.6  A Completion of Work Report describing all work that was performed will be delivered to the Port

Engineer upon completion of all work.

8.7  All areas involved in work or traversed by workmen or equipment shall be left clean and in good

order.
