4th Grade Summer Reading

Dear Rising Fourth Grader,

Please select a book from the options listed below. Read the book at least one time over the summer and come to school prepared to discuss the book. We will begin our fun book clubs during the first week of classes!

As you read, complete a reading log listing the times you spend in reading this summer. Choose one book and do three activities as described below. Best wishes to you from your Fourth Grade Teaching Team!

ACTIVITIES:

1.KEEP A LOG: Choose one book from the list and keep a reading log of the dates, times and pages that you read during the summer. A sample log is attached here.

2. MAKE A DRAWING: Choose one character and draw an illustration of this character as you imagine they lookin the story. Use an 8 1/2 x11 inch piece of plain paper for your drawing.

3. DESCRIBE A CHARACTER: Write a paragraph that describes this character. Your paragraph must include three adjectives that you think describe this character and evidence from the book.In your paragraph, tellhow the author showed you that these adjectives fit the character by their actions or words.Use a separate sheet of loose leaf for your paragraph
