The Nominating Committee has been working on two main tasks:
  1. Recruiting new members for GVHP as a whole
  1. Preparing for the Annual Meeting on November 16, 2017
The Nominating Committee would like to welcome new members in attendance. If any GVHP member has nomination suggestions for the Board and/or potential members for GVHP, please contact Sue Carlock, Tom Cicero or Jackie Woollett. We would also welcome another member for the Nominating Committee!
5. / Committee reports / Chronic Disease Committee:
-Working on Bluezone initiative. The Bluezone initiative is working with Nunda. The logo was branded as “be well in Livingston”. The committee has completed multiple focus groups within the community and establishing buy-in with stakeholders. This initiative coordinates efforts in one location rather than a larger reach. Currently Nunda is working on a school health index, walking trails, and worksite wellness. There will be a work day scheduled to provide technical assistance to the stakeholders and a kickoff event later in the year.
Safe Communities Committee:
-The Fall Prevention event was held in September. There were 55 attendees, 18 vendors, and 4 speakers. Home Safe Home Program is going well there has been a total of 15 visits done so far. In October Liz is working with schools on bullying prevention month. Schools are having students sign pledges, kick off curriculum on bulling prevention, etc. There are also a couple domestic violence initiatives in October. One is Amy’s Walk and another is “main streets goes purple” both
Social and Emotional Health:
-Suicide Taskforce: the 3rd vigil was held in September was successful. There was a teacher at BOCES metal trade program who made a tree to use at the vigil that was lighted and those who were impacted by suicide were able to hang remembrance ornaments. There was a of press around this event and there are many churches and media outlets reaching out to discuss the topic. There were 48 people in attendance. LC mental health has taken the lead on a postvention support group. The group is scheduled to start that soon and more information will be forthcoming on that. A media campaign was promoted to LC residents, the Betheone campaign. The taskforce will be sponsoring gatekeeper training at Livonia Central School. There will be three sessions at Livonia- all staff, bus drivers, coaches, etc. are requested to attend the presentation. There may also be a gatekeeper training on clergy day for churches. Lynne discussed a new risk assessment that may be implemented in the probation department. Herself and staff will be going to Columbia university to be trained inthis. There was a healthcare provider training that was done with a Dr. from URMC on identifying, assessing, and preventing suicide in a primary care setting. There were 14 registrants, 2 physicians, nurses, and social workers.
-Healthy Communities that Care: has been working on reviewing the data from the needs assessment and establishing a workplan. A vigil was organized for overdose awareness day, there were about 60 people in attendance. September is NationalRecovery Month and a 5k run in Dansville is being held.Continue to promote the monitor, secure, dispose campaign. 9/25 is national family day- encouraging families to have a meal with their children. Heroin and opiates townhall meeting in Caledonia on 9/27.
Access to Care:
-The committee initially focused on Affordable Care Act and how to navigate the health insurance system. Since the future of healthcare is uncertain there is less to be done in this area. Another focus has been around transportation. The committee meets quarterly to discuss access to care issues and await changes to the health care reform.

7. / Next Meeting / Next meeting is on November 16th at 2:00PM in the conference room of the Livingston County Highway Department.
