Dear Parents and Students:

October is full of activities stressing respect for yourself and the law by staying drug-free. We celebrate our stand against drugs school-wide by celebrating Red Ribbon Week each year. This school year, we will observe Red Ribbon Week October 23rd– 31st, and we will be incorporating bully prevention. Our school theme will be“United We Stand Against Bullying and Drugs.”Students are encouraged to dress up according to the day’s theme. Teachers and staff are encouraged to dress up as well. The Red Ribbon Week celebration will go as follows:

  • Monday, October 23: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to “Rally in Red Against Bullying and Drugs,” by wearing red.
  • Tuesday, October 24: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to show how“You Won’t See Us Using Drugs or Being a Bully,” by wearing camouflage.
  • Wednesday, October 25:Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to “Black Out Bullying” by wearing black and to “Show How Crazy Drugs Make You,” by wearing crazy hair.
  • Thursday, October 26: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to show that we are saying “Peace Out to Bullying and Drugs,”by wearing tie-dye, bright colors or dressing like a hippie.
  • Friday, October 27: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to show that“These Paws Don’t Bully or Do Drugs,” by wearing school spirit from head to toe.

.

  • Monday, October 30: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to“Wake Up and Say No to Bullying and Drugs,” by wearing pajamas, robes and/or slippers.
  • Tuesday, October 31: Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to show their “Inner Character That Helps You Choose to be Bully and Drug Free,” by dressing as their favorite superhero, Disney character or favorite book character.(No masks will be allowed).

Although we have many fun days scheduled in celebration of Red Ribbon Week, we want to always emphasize the reason why we take part in this event annually. During Red Ribbon Week, schools and organizations across the United States focus on educating young people about the dangers of drugs and the affects of bullying. Through fun activities, programs, and interesting educational techniques, we get to celebrate and promote positive choices, good character, and healthy lifestyles for all. These efforts reach into communities and touch lives.
