Supervision Standards
We expect:
- You must tell your YOT officer of any change of address.
- You must attend sessions when asked, or inform your supervisor if you are unable to attend for a good reason.
- You to provide a doctor’s note for absence due to sickness.
You must attend sessions on your own, or with Parent/Guardian/Carer. Friends will not be allowed in the building or be able to wait outside in the grounds of the building. Your session may last up to one hour (this may be longer if you are doing reparation work) and you must be prepared to be at the YOT for that length of time.
If you do not attend your session you must tell your YOT officerbefore the session or you will receive a formal written warning. Any further failures to follow instruction may place you in breach of the order and will result in a return to the court in which you received the original sentence.
In the first week of your order you and yourYOT officer will agree a plan of work for you to do during the order. The plan must be signed by you. Your parents/guardian/carers can be involved in this agreement. The plan will be reviewed at various times during the length of the order.
The Youth Offending Team will expect that when you visit the YOT or are with YOT staff in other places that:
- You will be free from the effects of drink and drugs
- You will not fight or use violent or aggressive behaviour
- Your behaviour or language must not offend staff, other young people using the building or members of the public
- Your mobile phone and/or your I-POD will be turned off during your session
- Weapons are forbidden
If you do not co-operate with the conditions of your order or your behaviour puts your order at risk, this will result in breach action (this means your order will be returned to court), or if you are on a Referral Order, returned to the Youth Offender Panel.
It is very important that if your circumstances change in anyway that you discuss the changes with your YOT officer as soon as possible.
What you can expect of us:
- We will treat everyone with respect and as an individual.
- We will help you get the most out of your order by offering you support from a named member of the team.
- We will be on time for appointments. We will explain to you any changes that are made with these appointments.
- We will listen to what you have to say to check that the service we offer is working well and proper plans are made for you.
- We work as a multi-agency team and will share information about you within the team. We will share information outside of the team only when
-a child needs protection
-to prevent crime
-we have written information to share information.
We will include you (and your parent(s)/guardian/carer) in decisions about your supervision.
We will make sure that orders affecting you are explained to you and your parents/guardian/carer.
If you have a complaint about the service we offer you (or your parent(s)/guardian or carer) you can ask a senior member of staff to investigate the matter.
If you have made good progress on your order and you have not committed any new offences whilst on the order we will discuss with you the possibility of returning to court to have the order discharged. If you are on a Referral Order the Youth Offender Panel may consider ending your order up to one month earlier than first agreed.
We recognise that everybody is different. We value and encourage these differences and aim to provide a fair service to all irrespective of race, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation.
I have received a copy of the standards and the contents have been explained to me.
