Honors English II
Expectations/Rules/Procedures
Mrs. Stone
Classroom Expectations:
-Be PRODUCTIVE: Follow all policies and procedures. Participate actively in class each day. Ask questions. Engage in what is going on in the classroom. Put forth your best effort at all times.
-Be PROMPT: Students are expected to be on time and in their seats when the bell rings.
-Be PREPARED: Students are expected to come to class prepared with pen, pencil, paper, and agenda. Students are also expected to have homework completed before class time. Take responsibility for missed assignments.
-Be POLITE: Students are expected to address the teacher and other students in a polite and appropriate manner at all times. Follow classroom rules and procedures.
-Be PROUD: Take responsibility and be proud of your work, yourself, and your school. Read, understand, and follow all BHS and RCS behavior and conduct guidelines.
Classroom Rules:
-Arrive on time and ready to learn. When the bell rings, you should be sitting in your assigned seat and beginning the bellwork activity. Be physically and mentally present in the classroom.
-Cell phones are invisible during the class period. Cell phones may be used for instructional purposes during teacher specified times.
-Preserve a positive learning environment. Use polite and appropriate language. Offensive, derogatory, and profane terms are not tolerated.
-Do not cheat, plagiarize, or copy work. Cheating off another student’s work or plagiarizing (copying work form another source without giving proper credit) will result in a zero.
-Never line up at the door before dismissal. Please remain in your seat until dismissed. Enough time will be given for you to pack up your supplies before the bell rings.
Classroom Procedures:
Entering the Classroom: Please do not stand or wait in the hallway. Take your assigned seat. Begin the Bellwork activity on the projector screen.
Tardy: If you are not in the classroom before the tardy bell rings, report to room C7 for a tardy slip. Please return to the classroom as quickly as possible and join the activity in progress.
Absent: It is your responsibility to make up any missed assignments. Please take any handouts from the “While You Were Out” folders for the missed day. Consult the weekly calendar on the board and/or my webpage for any activities or assignments completed that did not require a handout. Tests and quizzes can be made up during Primetime.
Primetime Passes: The Primetime notebook is located on the cabinet under the windows. I may assign a Primetime to you from time to time. However, if you need to make up assignments, tests, quizzes, or need additional help, please sign out a pass and let me know what you will need, so I will be prepared and the time will be productive.
Speaking in class: All students are entitled and deserve an orderly and quiet environment that is conducive to learning. Please raise your hand when you have a comment or question. When another classmate is speaking, please be respectful and listen and await your turn. We will have open discussions sometimes, which will require everyone to be respectful of other’s speaking time and await their turn to speak.
Leaving your seat: Please do not leave your seat to recycle or throw something away, sharpen your pencil, or return an item during instruction time. Appropriate times for these activities are in between activities, after instruction or discussion, during individual seatwork activities, before the bell, and/or at dismissal.
Restroom Policy: In order to control the amount of traffic leaving the room, please try to use the restroom during class changes. However, if you need to use the restroom during class, please do not disrupt instruction. Simply hold up your agenda, and I will let you know if it is an appropriate time or not for leaving the classroom. Appropriate times for the restroom are after you are finished with an assignment or the class is working on individual seatwork (not during teacher instruction). You must present your agenda for a signature to leave the classroom. In case of an emergency, please let me know immediately.
