NextLandmark International Contest 2018: Venezia, Hospitality Interior Design.
CONTENT AND GOALS
theIRIS CERAMICA GROUP’s design portal promotes the seventh edition of the international contest for architects and designers entitled “Hospitality Interior Design”. The contest aims to cast light on new research and writing, in order to publicise the work of new generations of creative artists in the disciplines of architecture and design,promoting their ideas, proposals and visions for contemporary living. It offers an opportunity for young professionals with a declared interest in the community, and supports their work and the development of their careers
This seventh edition of the contest will have two sections.
- HOSPITALITY INTERIOR DESIGN, open to all creative artists in the architecture and design categories.
- LANDMARK OF THE YEAR 2018, reserved solely for those who have already taken part in a previous edition of NextLandmark, with the aim of promoting the creation of a community of designers who are open to contemporary architectural debate.
Both sections of NextLandmark 2018 aim to recognise the best interior design dedicated to hospitality, created after 01.01.2010. This includes hotels, restaurants, bars and unconventional snack areas.
Contest participation is free and takes place exclusively online.
GOAL
The contest, divided into two categories, aims to recognise the contribution made by creativity in architecture and designto our evolving common future, expressed through interior design and the outer ‘skin’ of contemporary living, in order to incentivise sustainable design.
Both sections will offer an award to the best interior design dedicated to hospitality and conviviality, by a skilled designer, created for contemporary living after 01.01.2010. This includes hotels, restaurants, bars and unconventional snack areas.
The project must meet the needs of spatial innovation, originality and sustainability.
GUIDELINES FOR BOTH SECTIONS
The proposal will be awarded prizes according to the following criteria:
- originality
- the human relationship with the hospitality space
- technical, aesthetic or conceptual innovation.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
The graphic materials required in each category are:
- 5 photos of the work in .jpg format (1280X1024 pixel 72 dpi)
- 2 project panels containing either plans, cross-sections or perspectives in .jpg format (1280X1024 pixel 72 dpi)
- 3 images of choice that optimally describe the interior design work (renderings, photos of models, sketches, outlines, etc.) in .jpg format 1280X1024 pixel 72 dpi
- A project report of a maximum 1800 characters in English
COMPETITION ENTRY
This international contest is open to all designers with a degree in architecture and design.
Entries may be individual or in a group.
In the case of group entries, although the work belongs to all the participants, a group leader must be chosen as the sole representative in relationship with the organising committee and to whom the prize will be awarded.
Every participant can enter only one project, whether individually or as part of a group.

Competition registration is free.
Entrants should register and upload their entries by30th June 2018, filling in the online registration form at with their accreditation information and obtaining an alphanumerical identification code with which to upload the required material.

SUBMITTING ENTRIES
In order to ensure that everyone has the same opportunity to win, and for the purposes of future publication, entrants must follow the rules listed below when submitting their projects.
Contest entries must be anonymous.
To make sure they are anonymous, when entrants fill in the registration form, they are assigned an alphanumerical code to identify their project.
All material must be uploaded in a restricted area at which is only accessible to registered contest entrants. With accreditation, entrants will be able to upload all the required material anonymously.
All files in the required contest format will be automatically renamed by the system using the assigned code in order to ensure anonymity before the judges.
No changes may be made to projects once they have been uploaded.
All projects must be uploaded by 30th June 2018
Entries submitted according to the indications in this document will not be returned.
PRIZE
The Jury will award the following prizes to the entries placed first in each contest category:
FOR THE HOSPITALITY INTERIOR DESIGN CATEGORY
- A four day trip to Venice for the Architecture Biennale 2018 from 27th September 2018 to 1st October 2018, including travel and hotel accommodation for three nights for 2 people.
- Two entrance tickets for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018.
- EXHIBITION OF THE WORK in an installation designed specifically for the awards ceremony, which will take place on 27th September 2018 at 6 pm at the FICO Eataly World amphitheatre, Bologna.
- Online publication of the winning project in all the group’s media.
- NEXTLANDAMARK INTERNATIONAL CONTEST 2018 winners’ certificate.
FOR THE NEXTLANDMARK OF THE YEAR 2018 CATEGORY
- A four day trip to Venice for the Architecture Biennale 2018from 27th September 2018 to 1st October 2018, including travel and hotel accommodation for three nights for 2 people.
- Two entrance tickets for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018.
- EXHIBITION OF THE WORK in an installation designed specifically for the awards ceremony, which will take place on 27th September 2018 at 6 pm at the FICO Eataly World amphitheatre, Bologna the largest agri-food park in the world.
- Publication of a double page article in the international architecture magazine The Plan.
- Online publication of the winning project in all the group’s media.
- NEXTLANDAMARK INTERNATIONAL CONTEST 2018 winners’ certificate.
THE JURY
The Jury, whose judgement is final and may not be appealed, will be appointed by the organisations and institutions organising the contest, and will have five members:

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING
Personal data submitted by candidates with their request to participate will be processed in accordance with Italian privacy law, legislative decree 196/2003, for the purposes of administration of the contest procedures.
EXCLUSIONS
The contest is not open to: members of the Jury or their spouses, relatives or in-laws; employees of the organiser or of IUSVE University.
Entries which are not submitted anonymously according to the contest rules will be excluded.
RESULTS AND PUBLICATION
The Jury will make a decision by 20th July 2018
The results will be published on the web site on 27th September 2018during the exhibition and presentation event at the FICO (FabbricaItaliana Contadina) Eataly World amphitheatre in Bologna.
The Jury will publish a final report identifying the assessment criteria and the reasons for selection of the winners.
The organisers shall also reserve the right to publish all the projects received and to produce a catalogue of the entries as encouragement to professionals and in the general interest of the community.
PROJECT OWNERSHIP
In submitting their entries, contestants consent to use of their work for the purposes specified above. Nothing shall be payable to entrants for these uses, except anything included in points 1-2-3-4-5-6 under the heading "PRIZE".
The entries will become the property of the contest organiser and participants agree to their publication and promotion, granting a licence of perpetual and exclusive use and commercial exploitation, without any territorial limits on the part of the organiser.
Partnerships that may arise between participants and the organiser will be regulated later and separately between the parties. The participants declare under their own responsibility to be the authors of the projects sent, as well as the only title holders of related copyrights. The competitors therefore assume all responsibility and costs for any controversies that may arise related to the originality of the work and/or the ownership of copyright.
Participants also declare that they are responsible for the content of their work, exonerating and maintaining the contest organiser free of any claim and/or action by third parties. Participants are liable for compensating the organiser in the event of any harmful consequences, including legal costs or out of court settlements that should arise as a consequence of violation of the above.
REGULATIONS
The organisers shall not be held liable for any technical problems, errors, deletions, or failures in the functioning of communication during the transmission of the files.
In submitting their entries, entrants implicitly declare that they have created them themselves and hold all rights to them.
The organisers reserve the right to suspend, prolong, postpone or cancel the contest at any time for appropriate reasons.
The winners shall be selected by the Jury, whose decision shall be final.
The Jury reserves the right, at its own discretion, to exclude any projects received which it considers not in line with the requirements of the regulations, even if it has already been uploaded to the contest web site.
Entrants shall not hold the organisers liable in any way in relation to third parties as a result of use of the projects according to the terms and purposes described in these regulations.
The Jury shall assess entrants’ ability to interpret the theme of the contest, their creativity, and the technical content of the images submitted.
CONDITIONS FOR EXCLUSION
Projects shall be excluded if they are found to be:
- Harmful to common decency
- Winners or honourable mentions in other international competitions, or widely published in magazines and on international web sites.
The Jury may also, in their own final judgement, exclude anyone who behaves in a way not appropriate to fair competition.
ACCEPTANCE
In submitting their projects, entrants accept the conditions set forth in the contest announcement without reservations and submit to the Jury’s assessment for both interpretation of the contest announcement and assessment of the projects entered.
The organisershall not be held liable for any problems or circumstances that may prevent the contest from proceeding or prevent entrants from participating in it.
The authors of the projects submitted guarantee that they are exclusively the product of their own creativity and that they meet the requirements of novelty and originality.
For anything not expressly contained in the regulations, please refer to general provisions contained in current EU, national and regional laws. If the organisers find any violation of provisions on the part of the participants they will have the right to disqualify them, without being held responsible for the disqualification in any way.
Next Landmark 2018 has been created in partnership with:
- Eataly world FICO (FabbricaItaliana Contadina), an innovative example of hospitality dedicated to the Italian agri-food sector.
- The Degree Course in Creativity and Communication Design (MSTC) of IUSVE University, Venice-Verona.

Dear Participant,
We would like to inform you that Legislative Decree no.196 of 30 June 2003 (Personal Data Protection Code) ensures that personal data are protected by respecting data subjects’ rights.
According to the above legislative decree, this data processing will be based on principles of fairness, lawfulness, appropriacy and transparency, protecting privacy and rights as set down in sections 2 and 11 of the same code.

Personal data processing is aimed only at completing the paperwork related to the competition, set out in this “Competition Notice”, and in Annex C “Copyright Transfer Agreement”. Data will be processed by electronic and automated means.

If data requested is obligatory, failure to provide this data will mean that the participant will not be able to access the related service or benefit.
