Applications are invited for the following posts tenable at Mumbai :
1. / SCIENTIFIC OFFICER : One Post [Unreserved] temporary for two years for ASTROSAT Project ; Pay Band : (PB-3) Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay : Rs.5400/- ; TME : Rs.41,390/- ; HQ : Mumbai.Qualification : B.E./B.Tech. with 60% marks in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university.
Desirable : M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with 60% marks.
Experience : a) 1-2 years experience in use of 3D CAD software like Solid works, Pro-E or CATIA and knowledge of AutoCAD; (b) Floor shop experience in a good mechanical workshop; c) Experience in design, analysis and fabrication supervision of mechanical systems.
Desirable: Knowledge of Mechanical Analysis Software for stress and thermal analysis.
Job Requirement : Work and support all activities for integration and testing of a payload for ASTROSAT at TIFR, Mumbai and its center at Hyderabad, and ISRO centers at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Sriharikota etc.
Age : Below 28 years.
2. / JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW : One Post (temporary for one year) ; Honorarium : Rs.16,000/- + HRA 30% per month ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qualification : Master’s degree in Biochemistry, any branch of biology with a passion to work on cutting-edge science.
Desirable : Hands on experience in DNA preparation, Gel Electrophoresis, ELISA techniques would be an advantage.
Selected Candidate will work on “Radiation generated secondary particle induced damage to DNA and other biomolecules”.
3. / PHYSICAL INSTRUCTOR : One Post [Unreserved] ; Pay Band : (PB-2) Rs. 9300-34800 + Grade Pay : Rs. 4200/- ; TME : Rs.25,945/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qual. : i) HSC with 50% marks. ii) Diploma in Physical education from recognized Institute of Sports OR Bachelor in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) from a recognized University. (iii) 3 year experience as Physical Instructor in a reputed organization. iv) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.
Desirable : M.Ped. Experience in organizing and co-ordinating various sports facilities like lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis etc. Handling the administrative work relating to the above facilities.
Age : Below 35 years.

4. / CLERK (A) : One Post [Other Backward Class with Visually Handicapped/Hearing Handicapped] ; Pay Band (PB-1) : Rs.5200-20200 + Grade Pay : Rs.2000/- ; TME : Rs.15,675/- ; HQ : Mumbai.Qual. : (i) Graduate with 50% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications. (iii) Typing speed of more than 35 wpm.
Exp. : One year experience in administrative matters and correspondence in a large and reputed organization.
Desirable : i) MS-CIT (Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology) or equivalent. (ii) Drafting skills in English is highly preferable.
Job Description : The selected candidate will be assisting in Administrative/Purchase/Accounts Sections.
Age : Below 41 years.
5. / TRADESMAN (B) [MASON] : One Post [Reserved for Other Backward Class Persons with Disabilities OH/HH/VH] ; Pay Band : (PB-1) Rs.5200-20200 + Grade Pay : Rs.2000/- ; TME : Rs.15,675/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qual. : (i) S.S.C. OR Equivalent. (ii) ITI (60% marks) with two years experience OR ITI (60% marks) and NCTVT with one year experience in Masonry trade.
Age : Below 41 years.
TME : Total Monthly Emoluments.
Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidates. Candidates are liable to be transferred to other Centres/Field Stations of the Institute, if required.
General Information : Appointment for the post at sr. no. 5 will be initially for a period of three years, including probation period of one year. Continuing appointment beyond the initial period of three years will be subject to the results of a comprehensive review and performance appraisal. After successful review, the appointment is continued till superannuation age, which is sixty.
Prescribed age should not exceed as on July 1, 2010.
Selected candidates for the posts at sr. no. 3, 4 & 5 will be governed by the New Pension Scheme applicable to the Central Government service [unless they are already governed by CCS (Pension) Rules 1972].
