HORATION ALGER CTE SCHOLARSHIP

Receive up to $2,500 to pursue a career or technical certificate/degree. You must....

·  Have completed high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2016 with plans to enroll at a community college for the first time by fall 2016

·  Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit community college in the United States

·  Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)

·  Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity

·  Be involved in community service activities

Seniors: The vision of North Dakota Dollars for Scholars® is to encourage postsecondary education attendance for all North Dakota students through strong Dollars for Scholars support. Our goal is to assist students, parents, counselors and North Dakota communities reach educational and funding goals. North Dakota Dollars for Scholars is a statewide chapter providing scholarships to students from Dollars for Scholars communities. Each year the organization strives to award over $100,000 to deserving students The application deadline for all North Dakota Dollars for Scholars scholarships is April 1. Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program

Dickinson State University awards recipients of this scholarship of $3,000 per academic year for up to four years. Incoming freshman to DSU must have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and/or an ACT score of 26 or higher. Applicants must include a resume of extracurricular activities that highlights leadership positions held and write a two to three page and include two letters of recommendation with their applications. Dr. Henry A. Springer Scholarship-SENIORS

This scholarship was established for students planning to attend a vocational college or 4 year university by a medical doctor from Dickinson, ND. Over 20 $1,000 one time awards will be given to students at both Dickinson High School and Trinity. The scholarship is based primarily on financial need for strong academic students who have applied and been accepted to either a college or university. Parents will need to provide verification of their adjusted gross income from the first page of the 2015 completed tax form. All information is completely confidential. Reuben T. Guenther Scholarship-SENIORS

Students who plan to enroll full-time in a career and technical education program of two years or less are eligible to apply for one of two one time $350 dollar scholarships that will be awarded in May 2016. Applicants must also complete at least one or more career and technical education courses between grades 9 and 12. Jack Carlson Memorial Scholarship-SENIORS

Students who have made plans to further their education after graduating from DHS are eligible to apply for this $1,000 one time scholarship. Applicants must complete an application and answer essay questions. Pick up an application with a counselor. This scholarship will be awarded at the Spring Sports Award Program. Application deadline is April 1, 2016.

Nancy Joy Sjursen Music Scholarship-SENIORS

This memorial scholarship was set up by friends and family members to honor Nancy's love of music. One $275 one time scholarship will be awarded to a deserving senior DHS to continue Nancy's love of music. Applications can be picked up with any counselor. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2016.

George Frenzel Memorial Scholarship-SENIORS

Students who plan to attend a vocational college are eligible to apply for a one time scholarship award of $2500.00. Applicants must complete the application form with two essay questions and submit them to the DHS counselors'. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2015.

Farm Credit Services of North Dakota

Seniors who plan to pursue an agricultural career or whose family is actively farming or ranching are eligible to apply for one of ten $1,000 scholarships. NDSU CULTURAL DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

This award covers the full North Dakota rate of Base Tuition at NDSU for 5 years. This award is to provide opportunities to students defined as traditionally underrepresented according to ethnicity and cultural background as defined by the US government with special attention given to financial need, first-generation college students and single parents. Applicants must apply for admission at NDSU and also complete a separate application for the CDTD. Students must complete the FAFSA error free to NDSU by March 1, 2016 and submit the CDTD application by April 1st, 2016 to be considered for the award. JULIE BUXA HEALTH SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP ($250)

Seniors who have taken a Health Science (Careers) Class are eligible to apply. Awarding of the scholarship will be based on interest in a health science career, college aspirations, school activities, leadership activities, community participation and ability to overcome obstacles, financial need, grades and letter of application. Real Deal Scholarship-Bank of ND

Seniors may apply at http://eforms.nd.gov/lfserver/SFN60201 This is a short essay application. Each month the Bank of ND draws eight names statewide and those students receive a $500 after the committee checks and verifies the application that was submitted. At the end of the drawings those students who have been awarded a $500 scholarship will also have the opportunity to apply for a $3,000 scholarship. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2016

North Dakota Indian Scholarship Board

This scholarship is for Indian students who qualify by demonstrating academic merit or financial need. Funding for this scholarship is limited and is on a first-come-first served basis. Apprentices need to be 18 years old and physically able to perform the work. This community action program is a special savings program for limited income families and individuals. Applicants must be employed, have a present and past employment history and meet the income guidelines. This savings results in a dollar saved is two dollars earned. Seniors with high academic achievement who live in households with income of less than $60,000 and limited assets are eligible to apply. Specific eligibility for students includes that they must be in the top 5 - 10% of their class, have a score above a 27 on their ACT, must be in the 1st generation in their family going to college and are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. University/College Freshman Scholarships

Seniors - During the application process to the college/university that you want to attend, make sure that you do the online or paper applications for the freshman scholarships. Oftentimes, you can get large scholarships that are renewable to the school you are attending.

Alert Magazine

Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 who are planning to attend college are eligible to apply. There is no application or deadline with this $500 scholarship. Write a 650-800 word essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse. Discuss how it was dealt with, what was learned and what was right or wrong with the way the incident or problem was handled. Generation Ali Global Citizenship Scholarship

The Generation Ali Global Citizenship Scholarship Program, sponsored by The Muhammad Ali Center, is offering scholarships inspired by Muhammad Ali’s six core principles: Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect, and Spirituality. This scholarship program encourages the pursuit of greatness through education.

The program is open to high school seniors or graduates or post-secondary students. Students outside the United States must be in their final year of upper or higher secondary school or be a current undergraduate student attending school in the United States. Students must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire 2014-2015 academic year.

SHEET METAL WORKER APPRENTICESHIP

Interested seniors must meet the physical requirements to perform the work of the trade, and may be subject to a medical examination on acceptance into the program and prior to being employed. Interested students should contact Kumiko Glover, Information Manager at or call 651-779-6264.

BOILERMAKERS APPRENTICESHIP

The Great Lakes Area Boilermakers Apprenticeship Program applications are being accepted in a number of locations. The third Tuesday of every month from 9:00AM to 11:00AM applications are being accepted at Local #647, 3400 42nd Street, NW, Mandan, ND 58554. Contact any counselor for other dates and locations in Fargo, South Dakota and Minnesota. Applicants who have a welding certification or welding training qualifications will have priority selection over applicants with no welding qualifications. Applicants must provide a copy and proof of welding certification or welding training qualification at the time of application.

NDSCS-Educating the Electrical Industry

This year our department has about $50,000 in scholarships for those interested in pursuing a career in the electrical industry. In addition, they have $10,000 in available scholarships thru STEMS.
