SPRING 2016 RECRUITMENT

Order of Omega is a nationally recognized leadership honor society which strives to recognize those students who have attained a high standard of leadership in Greek and college activities, to encourage them to continue along this path, and to inspire others to strive for similar achievement.The Order is open to members of chapters in any of Duke’s Greek Councils.However, as an honor society, its membership cannot exceed 3% of the total Greek population at Duke.

Purpose of Order of Omega

To RECOGNIZE those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to ENCOURAGE them to continue along this line, and to INSPIRE others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;

To UNITE outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs;

To BRING TOGETHER members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution’s fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;

To help CREATE an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions.

Order Activities:

  • Arranging dinner discussions with campus leaders regarding Greek life and the student community here at Duke.Previous dinner discussions have welcomed President Brodhead, Provost Lange, and Dr. Moneta, among others.
  • Planning and executing events that encourage interaction between different groups in the Greek community and supporting Greek leaders.
  • Encouraging inter-council communication.

Qualifications for Membership:

  • A display of leadership in the chapter, and/or the broader Duke and Durham communities.
  • Evidence of a commitment to supporting and fostering Greek life at Duke.
  • Status as a current junior or senior.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.3.
