Supervising a Pre-Teacher/Mid-Tier/Pre-Service Student

SCECHs Information

To register to earn up to 20 State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) for supervising a pre-teacher/mid-tier/pre-service student go to http://www.oakland.k12.mi.us/ and click on the Professional Development tab.

·  On the drop down menu, click the SCECHs link.

·  Scroll down to the green bar that says “Special Activities – Registration & Verification Forms”.

·  Click on the Pre-Teach/PreServ Student Supv (first or second semester) link to register.

Ø  First semester (Fall) is open for registration in December and remains open through February.

Ø  Second semester (Winter) is open for registration in April and remains open through July.

·  Click Register Online

You will be asked for your account logon information on the following page. This information must match your SCR account or you will not be able to access your SCECHs.

Once registration is complete, a verification form will be sent via email within a week or so. The verification form must be completed and signed by the participant and the building administrator. The $10 fee may be paid online at the time you register, or a check made out to Oakland Schools may be attached to the verification form. The $10 fee for SCECHs is non-refundable.

The verification form, the log documenting the number of hours spent with the student for a maximum of 20 hours and payment (if not paid online at time of registration) must be submitted to Oakland Schools no later than 30 days after the end date of the activity. Faxed or emailed copies will not be accepted, it must be the original verification form and log with original signatures.

Once the verification form has been received by Oakland Schools, the SCECH credits will be uploaded to the Secure Central Registry (SCR). After the credits are uploaded, you will be emailed detailed instructions and a link to the Secure Central Registry (SCR) to complete the required MDE evaluation. You must complete the evaluation within 30 days of receiving the email in order for the SCECHs to be awarded.
