Sandy Valley Local loop: From Jean, on I-25, take 161 northwest to Goodsprings. From Goodsprings, take the Sandy Valley Road to Sandy Valley, then take back country road to Stump Springs, then continue northeast to Old Spanish Trail Highway.

Armijo and Northern Route

From Las Vegas, take 160 (Blue Diamond Highway) west through Mountain Springs, to Old Spanish Trail Highway.

Take Old Spanish Trail Highway through Calvada Springs through Emigrant Pass, to Tecopa.

From Tecopa, Old Spanish Trail west to Highway 127. South on 127 past Salt Creek Hills, Silurian Dry Lake, Silver Dry Lake, to Baker

From Baker, I-15 west to Barstow

Afton Canyon Local loop: Exit I-15 at Afton Road, take Afton Road south to Afton Canyon, take Old Mohave Road east to Soda Dry Lake, across Soda Dry Lake, between Little Cowhole and Cowhole Mountains, west past Seventeenmile Peak, across to Marl Springs, to Cedar Canyon, to Government Holes and Rock Spring, past Fort Piute, out to US Highway 95. Go north to Searchlight, and follow US95 north past Boulder City to Henderson, to I515 to Las Vegas.

From Barstow, take Main, which turns into the National Trails Highway, west through Lenwood, then Helendale, and Oro Grande, to Victorville.

From Victorville, take I-15 south through Cajon Summit, and down Cajon Pass to Devore.

To reach Agua Mansa, take I-215 near Devore towards San Bernardino and Riverside. Take Mill Street exit, go west on Mill to Mt. Vernon Avenue, and north to Agua Mansa.

To reach San Gabriel Mission, take I-15 toward Rancho Cucamonga. Exit I-15 at Foothill and take Foothill Drive west or Arrow Highway west through Rancho Cucamonga.

Take the Arrow Highway west to Cataract, south on Cataract to Covina, west on Covina to Badillo, and west on Badillo to Ramona Road to Valley Boulevard to Mission Drive, to Mission San Gabriel.

West from San Gabriel on Mission Road, to Valley Boulevard again, to Main, to Pueblo de Los Angeles and Olvera Street.

Northern Route

Start: Santa Fe and Abiquiu End: San Gabriel Mission and Agua Mansa

590 N past Bishop’s Lodge through Tesuque

84/285 from Tesuque north to Espanola

84 north from Espanola to Abiquiu

Alternate/additional route:

Take 68 north from Espanola towards Taos, to San Juan Pueblo, then over west from San Juan Pueblo back to US 285. Either rejoin 84 by crossing Rio Chama again, or continue up US285 to Tres Piedras and onward.

From Abiquiu, follow 84 north to Los Ojos, then on to Chromo and then up to Pagosa Springs.

From Pagosa Springs go west to Durango on 160.

El Vado Local loop: Take 95 south from Los Ojos between Herron Lake and El Vado Lake, then north on Jicarilla Road 8 to Dulce. Take 84 east from Dulce to Lumberton, and then back east to 84.

Carracas Canyon Local loop: Or, from Dulce take the Amargo Creek road over to Navajo, then follow the road bordering the east bank of the Navajo River and Conejos Canyon to the Carracas Road alongside Navajo Reservoir, to 151. Take 151 south through Arboles, then to Ignacio. From Ignacio, take 172 north and east through Oxford and Loma Linda to rejoin 160.

From Durango, go west on 160 to Wildcat Canyon Road, then to 125 Rd., then to 140, and take 140 north to Hesperus and rejoin 160 heading west to Mancos.

From Mancos, take 184 (Dominguez Escalante Memorial Highway) northwest across Summit Ridge, past Summit Reservoir, over to Dolores junction.

Follow 184 past McPhee Reservoir and Narraguinnep Reservoirs over to Highway 666 (has new number).

Follow Highway 666 past Yellow Jacket and Dove Creek to Monticello, Utah.

From Monticello, take 191 north to Moab.

Ucolo Local loop: Leave 666 at the Ucolo Road, CR 370, and follow the Ucolo Road north past Summit Point, to the east of Three Step Hill, then along the Lisbon Valley to the intersection with the Lisbon Valley Road, then north on 113 to State Road 46 east to US 191.

From Moab, follow US 191 north to Crescent Junction, then follow I-70 west to Green River.

Blue Hills Local loop: Leave US 191 at Blue Hills Road, just south of the Canyonlands Field Airport. Follow Blue Hills Road (CR138) to intersection with Ruby Ranch Road (CR 147). Return to I-70 at Floy/Ranch Road exit.

Take local exit at Green River, tour through town on SR 19.

Follow I-70 across San Rafael Swell to Richfield.

San Rafael Swell Local loop: From Green River, take I-70 west to US 6/191 north. Leave US 6/191 and cross Saleratus Wash to Cottonwood Wash and Trail Spring. Follow Cottonwood Wash Road north past Tidwell Draw, along west side of Calf Mesa. This road is part of an abandoned railroad grade. Turn west along the Green River Cutoff Road across Chimney Rock Flat, north of Joe Hole. Follow the Green River Cutoff Road west past Furniture Draw, Buckhorn Draw, and follow Buckhorn Wash along the Cutoff Road. Take the Green River Cutoff Road over to Castle Dale, or take any number of roads across the San Rafael River and Ferron Creek to reach Clawson or Ferron.

Soldier Canyon Local loop: Leave I-70 at Gooseberry Road, take Gooseberry Road south to Soldier Canyon Road (037). Take Soldier Canyon road northwest to Mud Spring Road (o48), to Scorups Meadows, then to Lost Creek Canyon Road (052), to Sage Flat Road, to Highway 24, into Sigurd. Regain I-70 at Sigurd, or turn south on State Road 118 and follow valley down to Richfield on 118 and 89 down to Elsinore, and Joseph.

Long Valley Local Loop: From Joseph, take Long Valley Road over the Antelope Range and Sage Flat to the Whitehorse Mine Junction, down to the Whiterock Schoolhouse and Cemetary, and into Marysvale.

From Richfield, follow Hwy 89 to Sevier Junction. At Sevier Junction, take 89 through Sevier Canyon to Marysvale, then to Circleville, then to Spry. At Bear Valley Junction, go west on Hwy 20 past Big Swamp Springs. Continue on Hwy 20 to I-15, then I-15 south to Paragonah and Parowan on local route SR 271.

Little Creek Local loop: Take SR 20 to Little Creek Road (Bear Valley Road), (077), down Bear Creek, then to Oak Spring, then to Little Creek, and finally, to 700 N into Paragonah.

From Parowan, follow Old US 91 through Summit, then across I-15, as far as the north end of Cedar City. In Cedar City, take 130 to 56. Head west on State Road 56, towards Newcastle.

Iron Springs Local loop: From Cedar City, take 56 west to Iron Springs Road. Follow Iron Springs Road northwest to Iron Springs. From Iron Springs, take Antelope Spring Road west to Sand Spring Road. Follow Sand Spring Road south to Newcastle.

From Newcastle, take Bench Road southwest to Enterprise. From Enterprise, take State Highway 18 south to Central, then Veyo, then take the west road to Gunlock. Follow the Gunlock Road south to Shem, then take Old Highway 91 south through the Beaver Dam Mountains over the Utah Hill Summit, and on to Littlefield. At Littlefield, the Northern Route joins the Armijo Route.

North Branch

Start: Santa Fe and Abiquiu End: San Gabriel, Pueblo de Los Angeles

Start: From Santa Fe, same as Northern Route to Espanola. Then there are several alternatives, all of which will be part of the auto tour route. They split around Espanola and rejoin below Ranchos de Taos.

1) From Espanola, take SR 76 east and north through Santa Cruz, Chimayo, Truchas, to Trampas, Chamisal, then SR 75 to Penasco, then north to Vadito

From Vadito, east on 518 (?) to 518 north to Ranchos de Taos

2) Take 68 north from Espanola, past San Juan Pueblo, and continue up Rio Grande valley to Alcalde (or take road north from San Juan Pueblo to Alcalde—don’t have this road number available…). Rejoin 68 north past Lyden.

Continue on 68 past Velarde, Embudo, Rinconada, Pilar, to Ranchos de Taos.

Ojo Sarco Local loop: Take SHwy 75 east to Dixon, then SR 580 to Canoncito, then 29 too Ojo Sarco, and past Ojo Sarco to 76 north.

From Ranchos de Taos, north on 68 to Taos, then out to Taos Pueblo (this is a culdesac).

Back on 68 north (now 522 north) to Arroyo Hondo

San Cristobal Local loop: Take 493 (CR?) just south of San Cristobal north through San Cristobal and Lama, returning to 522 north just south of Questa.

From Questa, take 522 north through Cerro to Costilla.

San Pablo and San Pedro Local Loop: From Costilla, take 196 east to Amalia, then go north on B62 (21 road in Colorado) on the east side of San Pedro Mesa, past Sanchez Reservoir, to La Valley, San Pablo, San Pedro, to P6 road to San Luis.

From Costilla, take 159 north to San Luis.

From San Luis, take 159 north to Ft. Garland.

From Fort Garland, take 160 west to Blanca.

Head west on 160 from Blanca to SHwy 150. Where 150 splits, take the west fork to Mosca.

Great Sand Dunes Local loop: Continue on 150 north to Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is a spur, not a through road.

From Mosca, take SHwy 17 north through Hooper to Moffatt. North of Moffatt, take CR AA west to US 285 and Saguache

From Saguache, take Z Road west to 42 Road, to SHwy 114.

Follow SHwy 114 up the valley of Saguache Creek, and then up over North Pass and down to Cochetopa Creek valley below Agency Peak.

Cochetopa Pass Local loop: Take Rabbit Canyon Road from 114, leaving 114 just west of the Saguache Creek crossing. Rabbit Canyon Road is NN-14, then Forest Road 750, then NN-14 again on the west side of Cochetopa Pass. Continue on NN-14 Road dpwm Cochetopa Creek, and rejoin SHwy 114 just past the landing strip and West Pass Creek.

Cochetopa Canyon Bypass Local loop: Leave 114 for 14-PP road, which takes off above the head of Cochetopa Canyon, and winds across the higher ground past Razor Creek Dome and Prosser Rock to Doyleville. At Doyleville, pick up US 50 and head west for Parlin and Gunnison.

Continue on SHwy 114 down Cochetopa Canyon to US 50.

Follow US 50 west to Gunnison, then to Curecanti National Recreation Area.

Continue on US 50 down north side of Curecanti Reservoir, cross the Gunnison River at Sapinero, then climb up Big Blue Creek to Halfway House, then west over to Stumpy Creek, and south down the Cimarron River to Cimarron.

From Cimarron, US 50 heads west to Montrose, then north through Olathe to Delta, then west to Whitewater and Grand Junction.

In Grand Junction, pick up US 6 to Fruita, and Gilsonite, to Mack.

At Mack, leave US 6 for I-70.

Book Cliffs Local Loop: Stay on Old US 6 and drive west from Mack, past the Bitter Creek Wash and the Book Cliffs Road (194), down to Harley Dome, and join I-70 at mile marker 225.

Westwater Local Loop: Leave I-70 at Exit 225 and take Coal Draw Road (192) south to Westwater and intersection with Cottonwood Wash road and cutoff to Cisco Landing (179 Road). At Cisco Landing, take 176 to Pumphouse Road to Cisco, then continue on 175 to Exit 202 and rejoin I-70.

Thompson Springs Local loop: Take the frontage road on the north side of the freeway to Thompson Springs and Crescent Junction.

From Mack on I-70, west through Crescent Junction to Old US 6 at Exit 173.

Take Old US 6 from Exit 173 into Green River.

From Green River, same auto tour route as Northern Route.
