20BOOK CHALLENGE
We will be doing a lot of reading during 5th grade. In addition to all of our reading in rotations, I am challenging you to read at least 20 books during this 5th grade year.
Here is how it will work:
- Read 3 books during our Social Studies/Literacy Rotation novel study
- Read at least 5 books from the Recommended List below
- Read at least 12 other books (of your choice)
- Complete 2 book projects- book jacket, book review, book talk presentation, or other
(1 in December, 1 in May)
Below you will find a list of some recommended books to read. You will find some in our classroom libraries, while others you might need to find from the Audubon library, the Redmond library, or a friend. Many of these books have been notable books from the American Library Association, nominated for the Newberry Award for literature, nominated for the Sasquatch Awards, or were featured in the Battle of the Books or Global Reading Challenge. You can read books not on the list, but they must be appropriate chapter books (see Mr. Hanson if you wonder if it is appropriate).
On the back you can document the books you read during this year. Happy reading!
