JOB DESCRIPTION:Assistant Coordinator Sports (REFERENCE: 06/2018 )
CORPORATE INFORMATION

- Salary Range:$17,518.41 to $30,515.63
- Location:Suva
- Reporting Responsibilities;
- Reports to:Senior Coordinator Sports
- Liaises with:Ministry staff,other Ministries, Wellness Champions, localcouncils and statutory bodies.
- Subordinates: None
POSITION PURPOSE
The position facilitates the needs of the sporting enthusiasts through provision of efficient delivery of services and support to clients, members of the public and sporting bodies in relation to sports matters and programs.
KEY DUTIES
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
- Coordinating assistance of sporting equipment to schools, youth and sports groups and organisations
- Ensuring the effective implementation of the Civil Servants’and Ministry’s Wellness Programs
- Providing assistance to facilitate sports for special needs
- Monitoring the impact of sports equipment assistance
- Event Coordinator for the annualNational Sports and Wellness Day.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Performance will be measured through the following indicators:
- Schools, sports clubs, youth groups and organisations assisted with sporting equipment
- Register of equipment donated up to date at all times
- Impact of donation of sports equipment assistance assessed
- All procurement policies and proceduresimplemented
- Civil servants sports for all programs effectively coordinated with timely submission of reports
- Ministry’s wellness program coordinated and staff’s wellness improves by 5% per annum
- Divisional games for children with disabilities and special needs supported
- National Sports and Wellness Day successful.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate should have a diploma from a recognised tertiary institution in administration, management, event organisation or similar.The following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are required to undertake this role successfully:
Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrated experience liaising with colleagues from different organisations to meet varied priorities and needs
- Demonstrated experience increating and managing simple databases
- Demonstrated experience in working with people from all walks of life with a focus on persons with disabilities
- Experience of organising events
- Sound knowledge of youth and sport development policy and practice is preferred
- Understanding of the Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable laws of Fiji
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement service standards and to be responsive to client needs and timelines
- Ability to monitor the impact of programs and support
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team as a self-starter
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal reports to internal and external customers
- Good organisational skills to set and implement clear goals for working with a community and adapt appropriately
- Capacity to use computer programs to support the operations of a complex organisation.
Personal Character and Eligibility
Applicants for employment in the Ministry of Youth and Sportsshouldbe Fijian citizens, of good character, with a background that demonstrates their commitment to the public service values contained in the 2013 Constitution, under age 55, in good health, with a clean police record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.
