This National Park is located in the south west of “Santa Cruz” on the border with Chile. It’s very beautiful and it has a wonderful view. All the people who go there really enjoy it. The endangered species found there are the ñandu, and the huemul. It is very beautiful because of its wonderful view. To get to the Glaciar Perito Moreno , it is necessary to go to El Calafate, a pleasant city with nice hotels that is 80 km away from the glacier. From El Calafate, you can visit the Upsala Glacier and all other glaciers as well. Most of the tours leave from this city. This park is one of the most important tourist attractions in Argentina. All the big glaciers that descend from the Andes into the Rio Santa Cruz are found there. These glaciers were fed by the storms of the Pacific and the pressure from the accumulated load, crystallized during centuries. The Perito Moreno Glaciar is 250 kilometres long. It is one of the few glaciers in the world that still grows. It grows approximately 1 metre every day. The front part of the glacier moves forward to meet the land in front and thus cuts part of the lake. Every 4 or 5 years, depending on the movement of the glacier, the Channel of Floes is closed and the water of the southern arm cannot drain. The level of the water in this sector starts growing. The Upsala Glacier is the biggest in South America. This glacier can only be observed from the water, and every day a boat leaves from Puerto Bandera to visit the place. It is 40 kilometres away from El Calafate. It is a trip that will take the whole day and the wind can be very cold. One of the most interesting panoramas are the icebergs. They float in the lake and are dark blue. The temperature of the lake is approximately 6 degrees and near the glacier it goes down to only 2-3 degrees.
