NHS England, Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country Area Team:
Primary Care Strategy Engagement
This engagement process designed to ensure our key partners are formally involved in the production of the five year Primary Care Strategy. The Strategy is attached with an abridged PowerPointversion of our draft operational plan, which covers the outcomes for the first two years of the strategy.
This work will complement the extensive engagement already undertaken and on-going with patients and the public in our region as part of the Call to Action.
It will cover the period from Tuesday 29 April 2014 until Tuesday 27May 2014.
The vision of the Strategy is:
Deliveringbetter care and improved outcomes for our patients and our population at all times.
There are seven objectives to be delivered by 2019; these outline how NHS England, Birmingham, Solihull and the Black CountryArea Team will deliver to the vision. Each objective will contribute to the overarching objective of increasing quality in primary care and highlights what we need to do.
- Objective 1: Quality – to continuously improve the quality of primary care through all of our objectives
- Objective 2: Populations - to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
- Objective 3: Patients - to improve patient experience, access and satisfaction
- Objective 4: Processes – to improve quality of primary care via contracting and regulating processes
- Objective 5: Workforce – to develop a sustainable workforce to enable delivery of quality primary care
- Objective 6: Premises – to improve the estate in which we provide primary care
- Objective 7: Transformation – work with key stakeholders to deliver system change and new models of primary care
The Department of Health Mandate to NHS England (Department of Health 2012) highlights:
“An important responsibility to drive improvements in the quality of primary care, reflecting the vital role that stronger primary care will play in supporting delivery of objectives across this mandate”
As a result, the Area Team have developed a draft Primary Care Strategyto deliver its statutory responsibilities and NHS Mandate duties.
