The Homa and Irene Wood Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of a college or university scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year. This scholarship has been established to support Mesa graduates during their first year of full-time post-secondary study. The scholarship is renewable to students who continue to exhibit the same levels of academic and personal achievement upon which their original award was granted.

Scholarship Award Amount: Varies, based on financial need. Typical upper limit is $5,000 per year.

Scholarships Awarded Per Year: Determined by available funding and number of qualified applicants

To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must:

·  Be enrolled as full-time student at a Mesa high school

·  Demonstrate financial need through FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)

·  Be eligible for acceptance as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours per semester) at an Arizona college or university

·  Graduate from high school with a 3.2 or higher cumulative GPA

·  Score a minimum combined (Critical Reading and Mathematics) total of 1000 on the SAT or 20 on the ACT

1.  Completed Homa and Irene Wood Foundation Scholarship application cover sheet

2.  Resume including extracurricular activities, honors, employment, and volunteer/community service

3.  Personal statement (1 to 2 pages, double-spaced) describing your education and career goals

4.  List of scholarships for which you have applied

5.  Copy of Student Aid Report from FAFSA

6.  Copy of unofficial high school transcript that includes grades from your most recent semester

7.  ACT or SAT scores (school reports sufficient)

8.  Two letters of recommendation from teachers, employers or student advisors who can attest to your potential for academic success at the college or university level
