Dear Parents/Guardians,

Our class will be starting to learnall about the US Regions, and will be participating in a very fun and exciting Geography project based on the book "Flat Stanley" written by Jeff Brown. In the story, a bulletin board fell on him as he slept, and he became 1/2" thick! He wanted to go on a trip, so his family folded him up and mailed him in an envelope to California.
We are very eager to start the project to see what happens to all ofStanley’s friendswhen they travel around the United States. With your help, I know that each student will be successful in this project. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions about the project.

Thank you,

Ms. Grieco (3G)

Dear ______,

Our class will be learning all about the US Regions, and will be involved in a very fun and exciting Geography project based on the book "Flat Stanley" written by Jeff Brown. In the story, a bulletin board fell on him as he slept, and he became 1/2" thick! He wanted to go on a trip, so his family folded him up and mailed him in an envelope to California.
In this project, the students makeflat paper versions of themselvesand mail them to friends and relatives. Youhave been chosen to be a very special part of our project. We hope that you will treat Flat ______ like a guest. Take him/her with you when you can and describesome of his/her adventures on the attached journal page, and if you would like, make him/her some new clothes. Perhaps, Flat ______ can be returned wearing clothing to match the climate of the place he/she visited. Please indicate the stateyou live in at the top of the journal page. You may keep Flat ______from 2-7 days. Our class is anxious to learn about the area where you live, and how you have fun.
In addition, he/she can be returned to our school with pictures, postcards, maps, and anything else you can think of. Be creative! The Flat ______ will be on display at school for us all to enjoy.

Please return Flat ______to me before January 30, 2015. You can send him/her back to me or my teacher. Her address is at the bottom of the page.

Thank you for helping me with this very important Third Grade Project by hosting Flat______for a week and letting us learn about your city/town & state. Our goal is to learn about many different places before the end of our school year. I wish I could fold my real self up and visit you!

Sincerely,
