This is an open forum for all excavators and underground/overhead facility owners. Meetings are scheduled on the second Thursday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at Saginaw County Road Commission, 3020 Sheridan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Please feel free to attend. TREASURER’S REPORT
No treasurer’s report this month.
OPEN DISCUSSION
Marcia Janson-Wilson reported that a check for $100 was sent to the East Side Soup Kitchen from the Tri-County DPA Checking Account as a charitable contribution from the group. The “Thank You” Letter accompanies these minutes.
Christine Davis reported that Champagne and Marx is having issues with damages resulting from locating mistakes. Lisa Douglas stated that she would discuss this situation with Christine after the meeting.
Lisa Douglas informed the group that Consumers Energy has a new online “Work Safe” training program. This is a training program for excavators that involves watching online videos and completing a quiz. Participants can also request a trainer’s kit and information will be mailed to them. The program can be found at
Donna Schmeichel let the group know that a new “Trench Right” phone app is available. This app provides the user with guidelines for safe trenching.
The MISS DIG online training program is running a December Promotion. The first 200 people who register and complete the four training modules will be entered into a drawing for an HD TV. To register for the program go to Once registered a User ID and password will be emailed to you to give you access to the training modules. Excavators can now join MISS DIG as Associate Members and assign an administrator to manage all their employee Safety Certification accounts.
Discussion was held regarding MISS DIG Members receiving numerous ticket requests at one time from a single excavator. It is acceptable for the member to request a meeting with the excavator to set up a locating schedule that meets the needs of the excavator.
