/ 11thJune, 2015 Term 3We understand that parents/carers are keen to take photographs of their children at school events, but please be mindful that not all parents would wish their children’s photos being posted on social networking sites. As such, please note that the school does not give permission for photos of pupils/staff taken at school events or on school property being posted on any social networking site. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Should you wish to share a photograph of a school event – please ensure you seek the permission of the parents of any child featuring in it.

MOVING ON
On Fridaymorning, 26th June, our pupils ‘move on’ to meet their new class teachers and see where they will sit in September. All children will have a note home with their new class teacher’s name on it and their classroom location, for your information, on this day. Any child who is not in school during the last week will have this information in their report envelope.
FRIDAY 26th JUNE - INFORMATION FOR P3 & P5PARENTS.
On Friday 26th June, all pupils will move to their new class teacher and classroom to meet and get familiar with their new arrangements. All will receive a note about this for parent information. Parents in P3 and P5 should note that these year groupsaremixed into new classes for P4 and P6.
The usual criteria is applied each year:
1. Academic progress2. Friendships 3. Gender mix
4. Special needs/talents 5. Behaviour records
We have always found the children to mix really well with their ‘new’ peers in the classroom and their social skills are enhanced. Previous friendships are still encouraged at break, lunch and during extended school times. The year group also meets for various activities throughout the academic year.
P7 PARENTS
Leavers’ Assembly on Wednesday 24th June will commence at 9:15am. This will be to celebrate the achievements of our P7 pupils and to distribute the cups and prizes for this academic year.
The Leavers’ Evening will take place on Thursday 25th June at 7:30pm. All P7 pupils will officially leave us on this day. Tickets will be issued soon.

Thank you to all pupils and parents who supported this all year.

If you have good condition uniform at the end of term, which your children have grown out of, please send to school at the end of June or in September. We are always in need of school ties so please pass these on to us if your child is in P7 and leaving school.
As always:If there is anything that concerns you in any way in school,

/ SUMMER FAIR /
What a tremendous week we’ve had! Our Summer Fair, last Friday night, was a huge success and we thank you for coming in your masses to support this. A serious amount of work goes into this type of event – in the preparation and on the evening itself. The enjoyment of the children and the great atmosphere made it all worthwhile. The team effort of our staff was noted by many and we thank you for all the comments made to encourage. We work extremely hard to ensure all pupils reach their potential and better, but we also know how to have some fun! Your support, in coming and giving so generously in all the activities, helped us raise approximately £4000.
We have many thanks to give to our local community and businesses for their support – please see the accompanying information. We had many winners of some fantastic prizes (attached also) and we are indebted to many parents for their donations of goody bags, books, bears, White Elephant, groceries, cakes and plants etc. A small army of parents also worked behind the scenes and on the night to help us and we thank them for all their kindness. Your response to our request for help was much appreciated.
We also had a team of Post Primary pupils here on the night.
Please send any good photos you have of our Fair to Mr McLean for our Website. We would love to have them.
/ SPORTS’ DAY /
Our Sports’ Day is always a great day too and we enjoyed another lovely time together on our School Playing Field. Well done to all children for the huge effort to make this another fun experience on Tuesday.
As always the great crowd of parents, grandparents, other relatives and friends added to the atmosphere and encouraging support.
Thank you DE Photography, our Ice Cream Van and Valerie our cook with her team who provided the refreshments.
/ POWER DOWN DAY /
Our Power Down Day with Outdoor Learning took place on Wednesday and what a super experience for all that was. We cut the amount of power we use in school by turning things off and having a digital detox day. Pupils were engaged in outdoor learning – investigating and making great things with their teacher. A real lesson in being able to enjoy the outdoors and not being tied to computers and the technology that keeps us all indoors nowadays.
Watch out on our website for updated photos of our World Around Us Day.
