8th Grade Math Requirements (Super simple)
IN A NUTSHELL-Your academic success is your responsibility (Not Mom or Dad’s)
ATTENDANCE-Show up to class
SUPPLIES- Have good pencils, erasers and paper DAILY
AGENDA-Use your agenda to write down important due dates (Use your brain to learn, not to remember stuff you can put on a calendar or “to do” list)
ATTENTION-Pay attention to lesson examples and write EVERYTHING down
WORK-Complete ALL class work while you have peers and an instructor present to assist you on misconceptions.
HOMEWORK-DO IT! (The only way to gain skills in something is practice)
ATTITUDE-If you have a bad attitude, keep it out of math class!
There is ONE way to address adults: YES MA’AM, NO MA’AM, YES SIR, and NO SIR (especially to Mom and Dad!)
DISCIPLINE-There is NO time for immaturity, save it!
TUTORING-AFTER doing ALL the above, you will be permitted into tutoring for assistance, the responsibility is yours…BE RESPONSIBLE!
TUTORING:
Missed a class due to illness-come in to get notes
To complete homework before due date-tutoring
To receive assistance before a retest-tutoring
To re-test (One per grading period)-tutoring
COMMUNICATION-All communication regarding class, assignments, grades and discipline are handled through email to respect your time. Reminders for summatives are sent via REMIND text (Students will have text number for sign up)

- Class Calendar: Complete with test dates and Unit due dates
Grades:
- Grades are available to student and Parents 24 hours a day/7 days a week on Home Access. I do not individually email grades due to the number of students in attendance. Please OPT-IN to receive an email from HAC
- Summative Assessments are graded quickly
- Unit packet (Due with summative)-Graded as a formative
- Formative Quizzes are graded immediately and students are individually or small group instructed on misconceptions.
- Re-tests are allowed only once per grading period to students who come in with complete video notes and a complete corrective assignment.
- Poor Grades-If grade is low due to incomplete assignments, poor behavior or any other correctable behavior you will see a note attached to the grade in Home Access informing student and parents of the behavior associated.
Every Unit (Due on date of Summative Assessment):
Consists of a
- COMPLETE Unit Plan/Review
- Lesson Video/Notes
- COMPLETE Class work
- COMPLETE Homework Assignments(TTM Pathway)
Discipline:
- There is no time for discipline issue in math if truth be told, we stay too busy.
- Discipline is taken care of per AMS campus policy.
