/ Welcome and Introductions
Joyce welcomed us to the meeting and introductions were made
2. / Annual Influenza Immunisation Programme
/ Annette Mercer told us about the free immunisation, we call this a flu jab
/ An immunisation is something that protects you against the flu
/ The flu can make you really sick especially if you are already ill
/ Children also get the flu jab between 2-4 years old
/ They get a spray in their nose instead of a needle
/ Rachel asked if people with learning disabilities who are scared of needles can get the spray instead
/ Annette said she would check with the team
/ Annette said it is also important for healthcare workers to have their flu jab
/ The group discussed who is thought to be a healthcare worker – does a PA count?
/ Paul said their staff go to their own GP
/ Pharmacies also provide a free flu jab
/ Nicki asked how do you prove you are a carer to your GP?
/ Rachel asked if we can find out how many people are having with learning disabilities are getting the flu jab compared to people without learning disabilities
/ Darren is working with the Clinical Commissioning Group to find this out
/ Rachel said one practice nurse is using a system of people with learning disabilities to flag when they need a flu jab
/ This will be used as a good practice example

Annette Mercer to contact Darren about using nasal sprays for people with learning disabilities / Annette
Send out information about the flu jab / BIG, KDC, Healthwatch, Carers Centre and Engagement Forum
Annette to get information on how carers get the flu jab from their GP or pharmacist / Annette
Develop an easy read leaflet for the flu jab / Joyce
3.Notes of the last meeting
/ The notes were agreed.
4. Actions and matters arising
/ Rachel met with Dinas Lane GP Surgery
/ They took photos of a mock health check and leaflets will be ready at the end of October
/ Rachel told the group the LAMP project is starting
/ This is short for ‘Looking After Myself Programme’
/ They are doing this with the Being Involved Group at the end of September
/ There will be a health promotion course and everyone with have a health action plan
/ Rachel said they want it to be a ‘train the trainer course’
/ They will feedback at the next meeting
/ Darren will speak to Jez Hunt about identifying a social worker
/ Dr Ayegba has not responded to our letter
/ Rachel and Trevor will meet with Dr Ayegba to discuss him attending the forum
/ There is a national survey around the quality of annual health checks
/ You can complete the survey online
/ Anyone in contact with carers should send it out
/ Darren said Jez Hunt is working on the transitional services for 14-17 year olds
/ It will be part of the SAF action plan
/ It is starting at 14 so the transition can take place properly
/ Rachel said they would report back at the next meeting around the Health Equalities Framework
/ The group decided a Health Day is not something they want to do right now
/ Darren said the SAF needs to be validated before being submitted this year, so we need to organise a session with BIG

Circulate the survey about Annual Health Checks / All
Rachel to provide an update about the Health Equalities Framework / Rachel

5. Health Forum’s Annual Work Plan / Terms of Reference
/ At the last meeting we had a presentation on the SAF findings
/ The group picked which priorities they want to look at
/ We will focus on these until the next SAF findings come out
/ The action plan was agreed
6. Acute Hospital Feedback
/ Dianne asked if we would like to see the minutes of Whiston’s Learning Disability meeting
/ There is a pathway for endoscopy which is working well
/ Passports and alerts are also doing well
/ Rachel told the group that some of the hospitals meet to share best practice
/ Carers and self-advocates attend if needed but it is mainly for health professionals
/ Darren asked if he could come from a commissioning point of view
/ Rachel said they would discuss this at their next meeting
