University of Chichester Sports Festival

The Festival of Sport at the Chichester Institute of Sport offers an arena for students to try out different sports, learn about the effects of exercise on the body and discover what careers in Sport are available. Students will be able to learn from world-leading researchers, external experts from local and national organisations and participate in activities ranging from climbing, blind football, wheelchair hockey and rugby. There will also be detailed workshops and information regarding the biomechanical and physiological effects of physical activity which directly link to their GCSE PE course.
This trip is being offered to Year 10 GCSE PE students. We will leave Oaklands at 8am and return at approximately 3.30pm. Students will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks as well as comfortable sportswear as lots of the activities are of a practical nature. There is no cost to the student for this activity.
As we are limited in the number of students that we can take, I would like parents to submit an application. Register of interest slips mustbe handed in to the Finance Office by Friday 19 May 2017. If the activity is oversubscribed, a transparent draw will take place. Notification as to whether your child has a place will be will be communicated by Monday 22 May 2017 by email. The remainder will be put on a reserve list in the order they are drawn from the ballot.
We would advise that students do not to take valuables out on school activities, however, should they be taken parents should ensure personal possessions are adequately insured. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to update the school should there be any changes to the medical information about their child. Please communicate these to Mrs Brettell, Business Support Manager.
