NarrativeMia's storyMoeira Salaka.9-20-15
Mia was always different from her mom and her sister. Even at her youngest years she always played with the horses and toy cars, while her sister looked at the barbies. "Mia come over here and look at the barbies with jade". But she never wanted to see the dolls, she was too busy in her own world of pretending to be a cowgirl with the toy horses.
Her mother always tried to dress her in pink skirts and over sparkled t-shirts that looked like a room full of disco balls, Jade seemed to love them. Her mother could not understand why she wasn't like her sister.
- Eventually her mother just gave up on Mia . She continued to take Jade shopping and to ballet practice. "If Jade gets to do ballet , then why can't I play basketball?""Because it is not proper for a little girl to run around and push people for a ball." All Mia could do was run away in anger. Her mom couldn't understand how much she wanted to be a basketballplayer. Mia watched basketball games on tv whenever Jade and her mom were gone. She would pretend that it was her running up and down that court.
- Mia was at school just like any other day as she looked up at the board she immediately noticed "basketball tryouts today 2:30-3:30 ." This is perfect" She thought. "I have to wait after school anyway for jade's ballet, mom will never know!"
Later that night Mia was so exited that she made the team , she continued to come to practice duringJade's ballet. It was so fun,her coaches were amazing .she was one of the best players on the team.
Later that week she just finished practice , as she looked up she saw her mom sitting on the bleachers "how did she find out"? Mia thought. "I'm in so much trouble". "Mia I have something to say to you" said her mom. " You have been different since you were a small child , and I always favored Jade because of that. I realized that it doesn't matter and I love you both equally . I'm so happy that you're a part of the basketball team." Jade and her mom came to all of Mia's games and Mia came to all of Jade's ballet recitals. They were finally afamily again.
