Apex Australia turns 85!!!!
The Association of Apex Clubs of Australia have celebrated their 85th Birthday over the weekend in Geelong, Victoria; the town where it all began back in 1931 when 3 architects joined forces to create a community service club for young people, focusing primarily on the 3 concepts of Service, Citizenship and Fellowship.
85 years later Apex has spread to every state of Australia and 8 countries worldwide! It goes to prove that from little things, big things grow.
To celebrate this milestone in Apex history, clubs from all over the country are highlighting contributions their clubs make to their communities, to raise the profile of the organisation at both a National and Local level.
Apex Clubs give back to their communities in a variety of ways under our motto of 'Building Better Communities'. All clubs undertake numerous fundraising activities across any given year to enable them to support local communities through everything from installing community infrastructure, supporting local charities/initiatives and vitally needed research via the National Apex Foundation and undertaking international service projects such as building schools in Cambodia. Apex Clubs also provide in-kind support and community services such as assisting other service clubs and not-for-profit organisations and running High School Debating and Public Speaking Competitions.

The Maryborough Apex Club is home to the current Apex Australia National President, Mr Jim McNall. Jim's Apex career has spanned 17 years since joining in 1999 and he has been a member of Clubs across Queensland, before transferring to the Maryborough Club in 2011.
Mr McNall said, "I joined the Maryborough Club in August 2011 after relocating to the Fraser Coast with my family. As I have moved around with my work I have found joining a community service organisation is the best way to fit into my new town. I feel that Apex is 'in my blood' in a way and it's a cause I've been committed to for a long time. The positive difference we can make in communities is what continues to drive my dedication to this organisation and as current National President; I'm doing everything in my power to ensure that Apex continues to build better communities but also to highlight just how rewarding membership can be on a personal and professional level. I also want to use this time to encourage as many people as I possibly can to get involved. A key element of Apex is the fellowship and I've developed friendships all over Australia and the world that will last a life time."
