JOB TITLE:Games Center Event Coordinator
HOURLY RATE:$7.25
SUPERVISOR:Games Center Manager
JOB FUNCTION:The Games Center Event Coordinator schedules and hosts parties/events and develops promotions and marketing materials. This position will work directly with children, parents, and families, while also working with campus partners and professionals.
HOURS:Averages 15-20 hours per week including regular staff meetings, weekday office hours, and regular evening, weekend, and occasional holidayshifts as assigned.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Work as a member of an event coordinator team
- Communicate with a variety of customers to ensure event needs are met
- Develop, plan, and implement events including birthday parties, tournaments, leagues, and other social programs for the Games Center
- Create and develop promotional and marketing materials
- Research best practices for Games Center programming and event implantation
- Develop organizational system to manage weekly events
- Build relationships with campus partners and professionals
- Lead Games Center team on best practices to accommodate reservations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule birthday parties, group reservations, and other Games Center social events.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of student events, tournaments, and leagues.
- Develop promotions, specials, and other marketing materials with campus partners and professionals.
- Meet and greet customers, assisting them with their reservation needs.
- Work with other event coordinators to assign hosts for weekend parties and events.
- Help set up lanes and party area for customer(s).
- General cleaning and arranging of party area.
- Complete all billing utilizing the EMS software for on campus reservations.
- Work closely with Student Union and University departments to make arrangements for event needs (equipment, food, parking, etc).
- Provide frontline customer service for Student Union and Games Center guests.
- Accurate cash handling for billiards usage, bowling, shoe rental, accessory sales.
- Guide staff and patrons in understanding the optimal safe and secure methods of using the Games Center.
- Interpret policies and procedures of the Games Center and the Student Union to students, staff, faculty, alumni and guests.
- Demonstrate teamwork and support of Student Union services and activities.
- Maintain regular observation of equipment and facilities to inhibit theft, vandalism and abuse.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate) per semester during the academic year.
- Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of2.0or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous event or program planning experience.
- Experience working with children, parents, and families.
- Good knowledge of general campus policies and departments preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Function on the job with limited supervision.
- A willingness to make a commitment to the position for the academic year.
- Must be available to work weekends, some nights, and some holidays.
