The Yeoh Tiong Lay LLM Scholarship Programme is aimed at enabling the brightest and best students to obtain a world class legal education regardless of their background. The level of competition for the Scholarships is high and Yeoh Tiong Lay Scholars are expected to play an active role in the School community during their studies and in the global community after graduation. How to complete the application form:

  2. Section 1: please provide the details requested in the text boxes. In particular please ensure that you haveincluded your student applicant number.
  3. Section 2: please paste/type your answer into the text box, ensuring you do not exceed 1500 words.
  4. Section 3: please paste/type your answer into the text box, ensuring you do not exceed 200 words.

  6. The deadline is midnight BSTonFriday 13April2018. Applications received after this date will not be considered. All applications received by this date will be considered for the scholarships. The Selection Panel will award Scholarshipsby earlyJune2018.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Programme is open to offer-holders of a place on the King’s LLM programme commencing in September 2018 (2018 entry). Scholarships will be awarded to offer-holders on the basis of outstanding merit and not on the basis of financial need.
  1. The award of a scholarship to an offer-holder will be conditional on (i) the offer-holder accepting a place on the King’s LLM programme and (ii) fulfilment by the offer-holder of all conditions, both academic and English Language, attached to his or her offer of a place at King’s by 31 August 2018. Deposits are not required until a decision has been made on the scholarships, unsuccessful scholarship candidates will need to pay their programme deposit within two weeks of the outcome.
  1. The scholarships are intended to benefit students enrolled on the LLM programme at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. You will forfeit your scholarship if you transfer to another university or other institution, transfer to any other King's programme, or (subject to 4 below) withdraw as or otherwise cease to be a fulltime undergraduate Law student at the School. If the School makes a payment under the scholarship to you in these circumstances, you will be required to refund this amount to the School immediately. You will not be required to refund previous Scholarship payments provided these were made while you were duly studying at the School.
  1. If you interrupt your studies due to serious illness, accident or other reasonable cause, you must notify the School in writing as soon as possible. In these circumstance the School will, provided that it is satisfied that the reason for the interruption is reasonable, defer the payment of any remaining part of the Scholarship to the academic year in which you resume your studies.
  1. As scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, scholarship holders are expected to maintain or exceed a high upper second class honours standard or an equivalent overseas qualification throughout the course of their studies at the School. Should you fail to do so, or if you are required by the School to repeat any part of your studies and/or to re-sit any examinations, the School may choose to withdraw the award of the scholarship. Should this happen no further payments will be made to you under the scholarship.
  1. You may hold a scholarship together with any other funding or scholarship received from any other person or organisation, with the exception of any fee waiver granted by the College.
  1. We may choose to withdraw the scholarship if you engage in any conduct that materially damages or is intended to damage the reputation of the Programme, School or the College.
  1. If you have been awarded the scholarship expressly reserved for residents of Malaysia, you will be required to sign a written statement to the effect that you intend to return to your country of residence upon completion of your studies.
  1. You may be asked to participate in promotional activity in support of the Programme, and you should be willing to do so at the reasonable request of the School.
  1. The School reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of the Programme and any arrangements contained in the Guidance Notes.
