S.P.H.L. MEETING

January 10, 2010

  1. Don Moon called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m.

2.Don Moonadded to 10 (d) Bantam AAA and 10 (e) amalgamated Pee Wee for Sangudo 10 (f) tiering and overage to the agenda. A motioned to adopt the agenda as amended made by Athabasca and seconded by Mayerthorpe. Motion carried.

3.Barrhead moved to accept the minutes as amended of the November 22, 2009 meeting, seconded by Edson. Motion carried.

Don is still waiting for trophies to come back.

6. Director Coordinator –

Nothing to report.

The attendance sheet was passed around for signature.

  1. Old Business –

All teams not returning trophies today will be fined (Swan Hills, Athabasca, Barrhead AA, Mayerthorpe, Whitecourt are the communities that have returned trophies to date). Jasper, Barrhead balance of teams, Slave Lake, Westlock (female).

Edson motioned to allow SPHL to update all of the trophies to one standard. Don (Mayerthorpe) and Brad (Athabasca) will be looking after this. Past winners will be honored on a plaque. Seconded by Bruce McLean, motion carried.

  1. New Business –

Suggestion for funding has been tabled for the February, 2010 meeting.

New referee incident form that Hockey Alberta developed was discussed.

SPHL All-star Game will be held in Mayerthorpe on February 13, 2010.

Bantam AAA – Whitecourt is looking at developing a “AAA” program over the next few years for associations that are interested.

Mayerthorpe is requesting that the Bantam B be moved to C for playoffs. Don indicated that this was preset at a previous meeting and could not be changed.

Swan Hills had overage players denied this year and they are disappointed as they have been approved in the past. Swan Hills also indicated their disappointment as to how the tiering process affected them this year. There was discussion regarding both issues.

  1. Other Items –

The following provincial host sites have been awarded to Edson Pee Wee A, Slave Lake Midget A and Whitecourt Bantam A.

All league games must be completed by February 7, 2010. Playoff starts the next weekend.

Teams not in attendance today, Barrhead, Morinville and Westlock.

12.Next meeting date – February 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Millar Training Center in Whitecourt.
