Guidelines

Ethos and Focus of Awards

The purpose of the award Scheme is to recognise and celebrate the commitment and vibrancy of the community and voluntary sector in Waterford City & County and to recognise the value of the voluntary contribution made by community and voluntary groups to their own localities.

Categories

The Scheme has numerous award categories which may vary/change each year.

General Conditions

Groups must fulfil the following conditions to apply:

·  Groups can be nominated or can nominate themselves

·  When nominating a group the nominator should ensure that the group have been notified.

·  A group can be eligible under one category.

·  No supporting documentation will be accepted for the judging process e.g.; photos, fliers, DVDs, cds etc.

Adjudication Process

The Awards will be assessed by an independent panel of judges, looking in particular for:

v  Contribution and positive impact of the group to the community

v  How representative the group is in their community

v  Level of voluntary involvement and participation

v  Use of inclusive working methods

v  Future benefit to the Community

**All nominations shall be assessed on the basis of the information provided. Short listing will apply and finalists MUST be prepared to meet the adjudication panel if necessary and be available to make a promotional short video (at no cost to the group).**

Presentation of Awards

The awards will be announced and presented at the Community & Voluntary Awards ceremony on Thursday 24th November in The Park Hotel, Dungarvan. Delegates from ALL nominated groups will be invited to attend the ceremony.
