Tampa Microwave and RT Logic Announce
Satellite Simulator with Delay Expands Simulator Product Line
with Three New Models.
Tampa, Florida (January 16xxx, 200862, 20076) ------Tampa Microwave, an established designer and manufacturer of RF and microwave communications and test equipment for various commercial and government applications, announced the availability of threehe new additional models to their satellite simulator SatSim Plus™ product family, the newest extension to the company’s line of satellite simulators.. The SatSim Plusnew products include product a Quad Band SatSim, a sSingle Ku-Band Satsim and a sSingle Ka-Band Band Satsim.integrates These new models extend the range of Tampa Microwave’s affordable, flexible link simulation products that are a proven and easy to use solution for testing and training applications. The Satsim products eliminate the need for live “paid” satellite time, saving time and expense for system users and product developers.system with the advanced capabilities of RT Logic’s family of channel simulators. SatSim Plus was designed to meet the requirements of evolving satellite communication systems that feature IP-based data protocols. These systems require link simulators that can mimic the delays associated with TDMA architectures.
Quad Band SatSim model LTT-03-W-198-ANT incorporates all of the features of the standard products, such as simultaneous band operation (C, X, Ku and Ka band), adjustable attenuation, and wired remote control for band selection. In addition, this new SatSim allows the embedded internal antennas to be bypassed for use of external customer-provided antennas.
The MSS-2300-BEA-S is a single Ku-band simulator with selectable beacons that covers an input frequency of 14.0-14.5 and output frequency of 11.7-12.2 GHz. The third new offering, MSS-9800-BEA-S is a single Ka-band Satsim with selectable beacons that covers the commercial Ka band input frequency of 29.5-30 GHz and output frequency of 19.7-12.2 GHz.
The new models are currently available, and can be ordered by calling the factory directly at 813-855-2251 or through any one of the company’s representatives. More information is available on the company’s web site, www.tampamicrowave.com
In addition to providing free space link simulation at all relevant satellite communication frequencies, the new SatSim Plus product family utilizes RT Logic’s DSP-based T400CS channel simulation technology to emulate the RF channel characteristics of a propagation path including time delay, Doppler, noise, range attenuation and fading. All effects are implemented in a smooth and phase-continuous manner individually or in pre-planned combinations configured in uploadable data files.
SatSim Plus is comprised of two ruggedized, fly-away containers connected by signal, control and power cables. The user can load customized link/satellite profiles through a standard PC and the hosted Graphical User Interface (GUI). The GUI provides a real time display of the running simulation with multiple plots depicting the selected propagation effects.
With precise, dynamic and repeatable control of the signal propagation path, a SatSim Plus™ simulator enables a variety of user test and training activities including:
· Terminal Operator Training;
· Realistic Loopback Testing;
· Modem and Terminal Performance Testing;
· Comprehensive Terminal Diagnostic Testing;
· Diversity Combining Testing; and
· Dynamic TDMA Network Testing (DVB-RCS).
The simulator hardware can be configured for single, dual, tri and quad band operation in the following frequency ranges: C, X, Ku and Ka. Functionality of any system can be controlled through System Administration features that limit access to complex modes and data entry screens. Turn-key installations including towers are also available. Currently fielded Tampa Microwave satellite simulators are factory-upgradeable to incorporate the new channel simulation features.
