Class of 2015 Parent Meeting: April 7, 2015

MINUTES:

  • The first thing discussed was prom: where it is, what time, who can chaperone, etc.
  • The Balfour representative will be on campus April 23rd and 24th during all lunches to pass out cap and gowns. He will be set up in the building 1 foyer. All seniors who have ordered their cap and gowns need to stop by to pick them up.
  • April 24th is Grad Bash. All students have been given a copy of the Grad Bash Dress Code. If your student is planning on going to Grad Bash on April 24th and has not received a dress code, please go to read over what is expected of your child for this event.
  • The Senior Class BBQ will be on May 15th during 5th, 6th, and 7th periods. We will be taking busses to Hickory Point in Howey to have our barbeque there. The tickets will be $5. The catering will be provided by Oakwood. We will need parent volunteers to help set up and chaperone that day. The students will get to the park at noon and will be leaving by 2 o’clock. The tickets for this BBQ will be on sale by Mrs. Freeman from April 20th – May 1st. If your student would like a ticket, he or she can see Mrs. Freeman in room 1-204 to purchase one.
  • Senior Class Dress Up Week will be May 11th – May 15th. Students will be nominating and voting for these dress up days the first week of May through English IV classes.
  • Baccalaureate services will be May 26th at 7 pm at the Morrison Methodist Church in downtown Leesburg. This is a non-denominational service and all seniors and their families are invited to attend. If your student would like to include any pictures from senior year in the slide show for the service, please give Mrs. Freeman a hard back photo OR email it to her at
  • Graduation practice will be held in the auditorium on May 29th at 8 am. All students must bring a pencil or a pen to graduation practice. All seniors must have their debts paid before they will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.
  • Decorations for graduation: We will not have a balloon arch this year. However, Grand Rental is providing a decorative arch for the seniors to pass through, along with chairs and tower lights. This will all cost the senior class about $1500. Volunteers will be meeting at the football field around 10 am to decorate for the ceremony.
  • Graduation will be May 29th at 7 pm at the H.O. Dabney Stadium located at Leesburg High (at the football stadium). Each senior will receive 10 tickets for family and they will be able to get their tickets after graduation practice on that day.
  • Project Graduation will take place at the Leesburg Community Center, located at Venetian Gardens, on May 29th – 30th from midnight until 5 am. We talked about getting lifeguards so that the seniors can swim during this time. However, we will need at least 5 lifeguards and their fee is too steep to be able to afford them. We need parents to volunteer for chaperoning that night, to help create games and activities for the seniors to do, and to help raise prizes for the seniors. We know that we will not be able to have a door prize for every senior who attends, but we can still pass out tickets and have some prizes for them to win throughout the night. We already have one parent who is willing to donate tickets to Disney for the students to win. We will need more participation from parents in order for this to be a success.
  • Our next parent meeting will be May 5th at 7 pm in the LHS auditorium.
  • I hope I didn’t leave anything out. If you have more questions, you can email me , call me at school 352-787-5047, Ext. 7137, or text me on my cell at 352-461-4615.
