Cat Dissection Guidelines
1. Buy a cat from ELAC bookstore ASAP. They cost around $70 plus tax.
2. Cats are sold fast, because there are several Anatomy classes going on simultaneously, so hurry up!
3. The class is divided into groups of 5-7 students. Pick a group leader to collect the money and purchase the cat.
4. All are required to participate. One can read how and where to dissect while another cuts. Then take turns.
5. Also buy other accessories like dissection kits, gloves, and marker pins. You need one dissection kit for every two students.
6. As a reference for dissection, use the Anatomy Lab Manual as well as the textbook.
7. The complete cat dissection will be done on two different days.
8. First, we do the skinning of the cat and then the muscles the following week.
9. Bring your cat receipt on the day of dissection along with the dissection kits, gloves, and marker pins. Wear comfortable clothing, like scrubs or gym outfits, because the cat dissection can soil your clothes.
10. If you do not bring the cat receipt, you will have to go home to bring
it. We cannot give you the cat without the receipt.
