AttendanceRequirements:
VirtualCampus
Studentsare expectedtoparticipateinall requiredinstructionalactivitiesin theircourses.Onlinecoursesare no differentin thisregard;however,participationmustbe definedina differentmanner.Student“attendance”in an onlinecourseisdefinedasactiveparticipationinthecourseasdescribedinthecoursesyllabus.Instructorsin onlinecoursesareresponsibleforprovidingstudentswithclearinstructionsforhowtheyarerequiredtoparticipate inthecourse.Additionally,instructorsareresponsibleforincorporatingspecificinstructionalactivitieswithintheir courseandwill,ataminimum,haveweeklymechanismsfordocumentingstudentparticipation.Thesemechanisms mayinclude,butarenotlimitedto,participatinginaweeklydiscussionboard,submitting/completingassignments inBlackboard,orcommunicatingwiththeinstructor.Studentsawareofnecessaryabsencesmustinformthe professorwithasmuchadvancenoticeaspossibleinordertomakeappropriatearrangements.Anystudentabsent25percentormoreoftheonlinecourse,i.e.,non-participatoryduring3ormoreweeksofan11weekterm,may receiveanFforthatcourse.InstructorsmayalsofileaReportofUnsatisfactoryProgressforstudentswith excessivenon-participation.Anystudentwhohasnotactivelyparticipatedinanonlineclasspriortothecensus dateforanygiventermisconsidereda“no-show”andwillbeadministrativelywithdrawnfromtheclasswithout record.Tobecountedasactivelyparticipating,itisnotsufficienttologinandviewthecourse.Thestudentmust besubmittingworkasdescribedinthecoursesyllabus.Additionalattendanceandparticipationpoliciesforeach course,asdefinedbytheinstructorinthecoursesyllabus,areconsideredapartoftheuniversity’sattendance policy.
