SUBMITTALS
General Requirements: Provide submittals in accordance with Section 013300, unless otherwise indicated.
Shop Drawings: Indicate proper layout of equipment with dimensions. Include methods of anchorage. Show supporting member materials, sizes, finishes and locations.
Product Data:
General: Provide manufacturer’s Product Data, including description of product and specifications.
Contract Closeout Submittals: Submit in accordance with Section 017700.
Provide manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manuals which include instructions for proper use, safety, care, maintenance, and who to contact for service and parts.
DELIVERY, HANDLING, AND STORAGE
Deliver materials to project site in their original, unopened packaging.
B. Handle materials with care to prevent damage.
C. Store materials under cover until site is ready to accept the product.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
Examine surfaces which will accept this project. Do not proceed with installation until conditions detrimental to completion are corrected.

MANUFACTURER
Fabricate, deliver, and install stage curtains and tracks in accordance with the following specifications and schedules. Properly adjust all counterweight sets after curtains are installed.
DRAPERIES
Draperies supplied will use fabrics vat dyed and inherently flame resistant or fully flame retardant by the immersion process in accordance with the current NFPA 701, IBC and State of Minnesota Codes. Contractor shall provide certification with the bid indicating compliance with these standards/code requirements. Prior to final approval, contractor shall provide original signed and notarized certificates for each fabric used affirming the fabrics satisfy all applicable codes.
Fabrics shall be first quality throughout. No “seconds” or off standard materials will be accepted. The drapery contractor shall, if required, submit duplicate mill invoices showing the grade and dye lot of the fabric used. Draperies schedules shall use the following fabric selection chart. Suggested sources are indicated – alternate fabrics must be approved using the request for equal substitute in this project manual.

Fabrication: All fabric cuts will be full length with no splices. Draperies will be sewn with fullness and fabric type as indicated on the schedule. All drapery fabric shall be removed from bolts and tabled across an illuminated inspection window (100 foot-candles minimum) for detecting flaws and imperfections, which shall be cut out and not incorporated in the finished work. All draperies will have heavy-duty polyester webbing weighting not less than 2.8 oz per yard, double stitched at the top exactly 2.75” apart and have machine set black anodized #3 grommets on one (1) foot centers. Floor length draperies will have a six (6) inch bottom hem with suspended inner pocket containing #8 zinc coated chain weight. Lead tape, or any other toxic substances, shall not be incorporated into any product in this section. Leading hems of traveler curtains will use one-half width turn back. All other side hems will be two (2) inches.
All linings (where specified) for draperies shall be sewn under the same webbing with the face fabric at the top, and inside the bottom hem of the face fabric at the bottom. Integral shrinkage tucks equal to 6” per 15’ height of the finished curtain shall be sewn into the lining to allow for vertical adjustment due to shrinkage. The face fabric and linings are loosely attached on the sides with interlocking loops and a vertical 1” webbing per the drawing in Appendix A.
All draperies operating from traveler tracks shall have oblong spring, carabiner type snaps or “S” Hooks for each grommet location. All other draperies shall have black No. 4, 36” tie lines, double knotted and tied.
Prior to sewing the bottom hem, the otherwise completed drapery sections shall be hung full height to their finished width and allowed to hang untouched for two weeks (minimum) after which the bottom shall be scribed and hemmed to the specified finished height. Scrims/Cycloramas shall have a pipe pocket in bottom hem. Scrims shall be finished at the top per above instructions and the bottom hem shall be six inches wide with an inner pocket pipe pocket.
Color Selection: The color of the front curtain, truss masking and valance shall be chosen by the Owner to perfectly enhance the accompanying décor of the auditorium. All other draperies shall be jet black or as indicated on the schedule.
PACKAGED HOIST SYSTEM – FIXED SPEED
The system described below is based upon general performance criteria common to the products listed below.
1. Electronic theatre controls “Prodigy P1500E”
B. Refer to Electrical drawings for which power disconnect voltage(s), amperage(s) and location(s).
C. The winch assembly shall be designed to lift and hold the stage lighting battons only.
D. Limit Switches
1. Provide four mechanical, adjustable limit for each assembly.
E. Load Monitoring
1. Each winch system shall have integral load cell monitoring for overload.
F. Provide and install all controllers, connections and devices as required.
PACKAGED HOIST SYSTEM CONTROL
Provide and install a package control system to manage all stage hoists for the theatrical stage lighting system.
B. Acceptable for this project shall be “Electronic Theatre Controls”, “Quick Touch+”.
C. See Section 26 00 00 for all required power and control connections.
PART - EXECUTION
PREPARATION OF SURFACES
Coordinate installation with other trades which may have an effect.
B. Clean substrate surfaces free of dust, dirt, grease, oil and loose particles.
SCHEDULE OF DRAPERIES AND TRACKS
Curtain contractor shall confirm all sizes by actually measuring the existing conditions. In the case of replacing existing curtains, the Owner shall make no adjustments to the purchase order due to curtains which do not match the existing sizes.

C. Folwell School Curtains: Work as described on the drawing sheets.
D. Tracks:
1. At Traveler Curtains
a. Provide Model 401S as manufactured by H&H Specialties, Inc., South El Monte, CA, or approved substitute. This track is for bi-parting operation, and shall be supplied complete with all necessary accessories.
b. Track shall be 14 gauge galvanized steel, roll-formed to 2-5/8” wide x 2-3/4” high channel with continuous slot in bottom. Provide unspliced in lengths up to 26’.
c. Suspend track with two-piece clamp hanger formed from 11 gauge steel. Provide 2’ overlap at center, rigidly separated by two overlap clamps. Install end stop with cord support at each track end. Where lengths exceed 26’, connect tracks with 12” long, two-piece splicing clamp of 12 gauge steel.
d. Provide single carriers, spaced on 12” centers, constructed of two polyethylene wheels fastened parallel to carrier body. Supply with heavy-duty hook, swivel eye and 3” trim chain for attachment of curtain. Black Super Tough nylon shall be molded around shielded and greased ball bearing to form carrier body. Install round neoprene bumper between each carrier on operating line to reduce noise.
e. Master carriers shall be 4-wheel assemblies with bodies formed from 11 gauge steel with press-fit ball bearings. Connect to operating line with two formed steel cord clamps attached to each body. Supply each master carrier with two heavy-duty hooks, swivel eyes and 3” trim chains for attachment of leading edge of curtain.
f. Single and double end pulleys shall clamp securely to the underside of the track channel and shall contain 4” diameter sheaves enclosed in steel housings to prevent operating line from escaping the grooves. Sheaves shall be Nylatron GS molded around shielded and greased ball bearings and grooved to accommodate up to 3/8” operating line.
g. Provide floor block in 12 gauge steel housing containing 4” Nylatron GS shielded ball bearing sheave. Sheave axle shall lock at any point within 9” vertical slots to allow tension adjustment of operating line.
h. Black operating line shall be 3/8” diameter, stretch-resistant rope with spun polyester outer jacket braided over Dyneema core.
All steel components shall be zinc plated to resist corrosion.
2. At Side Tab Tracks:
a. Provide Model 101WB walk-along as manufactured by H&H Specialties, Inc., South El Monte, CA, or approved substitute.
b. Track shall be 16 gauge galvanized steel, roll-formed to 1-3/4” wide x 2” high with continuous slot in bottom. Provide unspliced in lengths up to24’.
c. Suspend track with two-piece clamp hanger formed from 11 gauge steel. Install end stop with cord support at each track end. Where lengths exceed 24’, connect tracks with 12” long, two-piece splicing clamp of 12 gauge steel.
d. Provide single carriers, spaced on 12” centers, constructed of two polyethylene wheels fastened parallel to formed steel carrier body with swivel hook for attachment of curtain. Master carriers shall be 4-wheel assemblies with formed steel bodies and two swivel hooks each.
e. Track shall be finished with a semi-gloss black powder coat. All other steel components shall be black oxide finished.
EXISTING CURTAINS TO REMAIN
At existing curtains to remain, remove curtain, thoroughly clean, and re-install at time of installation of new curtains.
B. Existing curtains to be reinstalled on existing track and carriers. Refurbish carriers as necessary.
CLEANUP
Upon completion of work, remove all wrappings, debris, etc., and brush all surfaces clean.
