Highlands Presbyterian Church in La Grange, IL is currently seeking candidates for a Part Time Organist/Accompanist.

Primary Purpose: Accompany the church choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship services. Prepare and provide additional music during worship including but not limited to, prelude, offertory, postlude, and communion. Bring a rich and varied musical experience to worship services and other programs throughout the year.

Experience Needed:

·  Proficient at piano/electronic keyboard, and church organ

·  Experience with liturgical worship

·  Able to accompany choral groups or soloists

·  Able to sight read hymns and octavo music

Responsibilities:

·  Work with Director of Music to select appropriate music for the worship services

·  Be comfortable with a variety of music styles and genres, including but not limited to, contemporary praise music, traditional sacred music, classical music, modern choral, etc.

·  Play for weekly choir rehearsals from September – June

·  Play for weekly Sunday worship services and special worship services throughout the year including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving morning, Christmas Eve

·  Play for special choral programs including concerts and fundraisers

·  Play for funerals and weddings

·  Works with Director of Music to provide music opportunities for youth during worship services, Vacation Bible School or Discovery Club

·  Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings

·  Arrange for a qualified substitute for choir rehearsals or worship services when necessary

·  Arrange for technical service for the organ and Clavinova, and for piano tunings as needed with prior approval of the Director of Music

·  Arrive at weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship services completely prepared to support the choir and ensure a meaningful practice session and/or worship experience

·  Ability to play other instruments desirable

·  Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Music
