Dear KEF Applicant, עמו"ש

Thank you for your interest in applying to Kef for the upcoming camp. Before you submit your application, we would like to provide you with some information as to what the various roles in camp entail.

KEF is all about the kids. Our primary goal is that every minute of every child/young adult’s time at KEF is maximised for their enjoyment and comfort, supporting the children/young adults to continue to help them reach their potential. Anybody who has been a volunteer at KEF can attest that they feel extremely valued and appreciated. At KEF we ensure that all our staff have a great time too, enabling them to fully care for our children/young adults to the best of their ability in any role.

Although the one-on-one care of the children is the responsibility of each child’s counsellor, KEF is a family and every member of the team is responsible for the happiness and wellbeing of each and every child/young adult.

Taking care of healthy children can be sometimes difficult; having sole responsibility of a disabled/severely challenging child over a long period of time will inevitably be a difficult and draining, albeit rewarding. You are the replacement parent and full-time caregiver; as a counsellor you would wake, dress, feed, toilet, entertain, clean, bathe and comfort your camper throughout the day – and sometimes throughout the night, possibly surviving on very little sleep. At KEF, your needs must be secondary to the needs of your camper. Selflessness is the key to being a successful volunteer at KEF.

We look forward to hear from you,

The KEF Team
