Human Resource Research Internship

Brief Description of Internship:This internship focuses on research and analysis of several WorldDenver employee benefits, specifically the organization’s health insurance plan, the staff training plans, and the WorldDenver retirement plan. This internship will provide the intern with a valuable opportunity to learn about non-profit human resource planning and budgeting. The intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Administration.

Description of Organization: WorldDenver was founded in 2012 to educate our community on global issues and to engage Coloradans as citizen diplomats. WorldDenver serves as the official State Department host for international delegations visiting Denver under the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and similar federally-supported public diplomacy initiatives. Through these programs, nearly 550 international visitors are hosted by WorldDenver annually. WorldDenver also houses the Denver World Affairs Council (DWAC), serving greater Denver as the officially recognized member of the World Affairs Councils of America, a citizen education initiative that has more than 80 members nationwide

The mission of WorldDenver is to build a diverse network of Coloradans who engage with the world through our programs. This engagement takes the form of interchange with speakers and doers who are at the forefront of global events as well as direct interaction with international visitors, students, and educators who themselves come to Colorado to learn and teach. Internship Objective: The intern will obtain first-hand knowledge of non profit employee benefits, the Employee Handbook, industry offerings in healthcare and retirement plans. The intern will also have an opportunity to support the other program initiatives if their time permits

Skills and Training Provided: Interns will be provided with the opportunity to develop and expand research and analysis skills as well as learning about the elements of non-profit management. Training opportunities include internal trainings (such as in-office staff training events), Lunch n’ Learns, WorldDenver Speaker Series events, in addition to one-on-one training with the direct supervisor.

All interns are required to possess proficient knowledge of basic computer systems as well as be skilled in written communications, research and attention to detail.. Interest in international relations and cultural sensitivity are also desired.

This internship is for 8-10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Some of the work can be done at home. WorldDenver offers interns a complimentary annual membership with free attendance to all events. Please note that all internships are unpaid, but any out-of-pocket expenses interns may occur relating to internship will be reimbursed.
