Staffing news
At the end of term we will say goodbye to Mrs Melia (P3), Ms Boyle (P2) and Ms Robertson (nursery) and Ms Doolan (P4). I am sure you will join me in wishing them all the very best for the future.
Miss Graham, probationer teacher, will be joining us in August. I know you will make Miss Graham feel very welcome at Falla Hill.
Diary dates
Please see attached sheet for diary dates until the end of term.
Gala Day!
I hope that many of you will turn out for the Gala day on Saturday morning. Pupils who are walking with the school or nursery should meet at the Partnership Centre for 10.45am. It would be fantastic if as many children and families can join us in the walk around the village. Please remember we can have power ranger or fairy trolls or if you don’t wish to dress up that’s also fine. The more the merrier! Children from P5 can, if you wish, walk in the parade on their own, younger children should be accompanied by an adult. Parents will be responsible for their child at all times.
The football team will also be walking with the banner they designed. All football strips borrowed for the walk must be returned on Monday morning.
A Primary School relay race (boys and girls) will take place at 3pm at the sports field please go along and support our children.
Health and safety
Please remember that dogs, whether they are on a leash or not, are not allowed in our playground. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
Children are still accessing the school via the school car park. Can I please remind you that this is unsafe and all pupils should access the school from the playground? I would be grateful for your support with this matter to ensure the safety of all concerned.
Head Lice
An information leaflet for parents and carers is on Ipay Impact and the school blog. If you would like a paper copy please contact the school office. Please be vigilant in checking your child’s hair. Thank you for supporting us with this.
Nut allergy
Some of our pupils have a slight allergy to nuts; where possible can children please bring an alternative snack to nuts for break time?
Email contact
If you need to email a member of staff direct could you please do so via the school office and this will be forwarded to the relevant member of staff by Mrs Harkins. The school office email address is as follows:
Please continue to update your email details at the school office so letters can be emailed to you.
Many of you will be aware that the school now has a twitter account. This was set up last week for the parents of pupils attending school camp. The feedback from this has been very positive and in August I will seek permission from parents in all classes so that we can continue to engage with you in this way. I am planning to link twitter with the school blog and our new website so there will be a variety of ways for you to engage in the life and work of our school. The aim of this is to improve parental engagement. In August, if you give permission, you will be given the details to access our twitter account.

Football coach
Our P6/7 football team has a new coach: Luke MacDonald. Luke is based at the partnership centre and he trains our team on a Monday after school. The partnership centre has also provided us with new footballs for this training. I am extremely grateful for their support and hope to continue a strong link with the partnership centre next session.
