Expectations for student learning: Through modeling, teaching, practicing and math instruction, all students will improve in their understanding of number sense, statistics and geometry. The number of students that are proficient or advanced on the DSTEP for a specific “Standard” will increase.

By the end of the 2009-2010 school year, the number of 5th grade students at East Elementary will improve their writing skills.
Expectations for student learning:
Through modeling, teaching, practicing, and writing instruction all students in the 3rd-5th grades will improve in the mechanics of writing, sentence and paragraph writing.

Developmental Writing Assessment / A 6-trait writing rubric for each grade level (3-5) was created by Deb Hrinda with input from the La committee and classroom teachers. It is currently used to score a pretest which is given in the fall and a posttest in the spring.

Denelian / Every grade level has purchased Zaner-Bloser handwriting workbooks and is in the process of implementing the Zaner-Bloser Handwriting program in the classrooms.
