Details of the All Weather Ratings Service
The AW service runs from 1 November to end March with a short mid-season break from 27 December to 2 January. Each day a WORD file listing the ratings is e-mailed to subscribers.
Contents of the Ratings File
The daily file contains the ratings for all non-juvenile AW races. An example race is taken from Wolverhampton meeting held on 4 October 2003 detailed below:

From the above it can be seen that Sonderborg is top rated with a master rating of 54. This has been adjusted by the draw effect for this track. Sonderborg produced a figure of 49 on his latest start over 10 furlongs at Lingfield (the > indicates that he raced prominently through the race). He is trained by Miss A M Newton-Smith, is three-years-old and carries 8-08 in weight. Sonderborg is drawn 4 and has been off the course for 17 days. The W-R(a) column shows the number of wins and runs in all weather races; W-R(t) shows races over this track, and W-R(d) are races run over similar distances on the AW. Sire data is based of five seasons and shows the wins, runs and average return/£1 for all progeny of the sire running over similar race distances on the AW. The trainer column displays the same information and is restricted to similar AW races. Draw data shows the success rate and average return/£1 and is restricted to non-juvenile handicaps only of a similar field size run since 2001. The figure immediately following the trainer’s name is the trainer’s recent win rate.
Odds Line
For the 2002 season an Odds Line feature was added. This provides a forecast of the race result. In 2003 this was improved to show the chance of success for each horse in terms of odds. This takes into account the ratings, trainer form, days off the track and recent form. The first named horse is considered to be the most likely winner of the race. This runner is also highlighted in the main ratings grid.
Expectations
Backing the top rated horse blindly in every race will, in all probability, not return a profit. However other factors such as price available should to be considered and this is up to the subscriber. Whilst the ratings do provide a good guide to the likely level of success (a success rate of about twice the random expectation is usual) but the subscriber needs to determine the value bets. Previous results can be downloaded from the site in Excel format.
Requirements of the Subscriber
It is requested that subscribers do not sell the ratings to any third party. Furthermore, it is also requested that subscribers do not provide the ratings free of charge to a third party on a regular basis. Naturally, if a subscriber is attending a race meeting with a friend, for example, it would be acceptable to share the information.
Requirements of the Service Provider
To provide the ratings on the days designated, technical problems permitting, and to review the ratings periodically and make suitable improvements where possible.
